4.0 out of 5 stars Good Quality, one problem
This set rivals Sear's higher quality rachets but is a step below SK or Snap-On. But for the price that's to be expected.
The 1/4" rachet was missing it's retaining ring,an obvious manufacturing/assembling defect. However, Stanley Tools
customer service quickly remedied the problem.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent; not great, but decent
In the end, basically a decent quality set of tools. They are certainly not mechanic quality (I'm not a pro and I've still handled better), but they'll get the job done as long as you are willing to use a little extra elbow grease and some patience. In the end, basically a decent quality set of tools. They are certainly not mechanic quality (I'm not a pro and I've still handled better), but they'll get the job done as long as you are willing to use a little extra elbow grease and some patience. The rachet mechanism has slipped on me before, when trying to unscrew some particularly evil bolts, resulting in a nice little hand-smashing-into-metal-making-little-cuts-hopping-around-bleeding sort of moment. But considering the abuse I put them through, and for the price, I'm still giving these a decent rating; an occassional mishap is not so bad compared to the utilty of actually having a good, complete set that works 99% of the time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, June 28, 2006
This review is from: Stanley 89-803 62 Piece Professional Grade Mechanics Tool Set (Tools & Home Improvement)
The ratchet heads are a bit big and won't fit into tight spaces.Roughly comparable to Craftsman teardrop ratchets, except for the head size. Not on the same level as Craftsman fine tooth or Craftsman Professional ratchets and far below SK. For someone that wants a good quality basic set of sockets and ratchets, these will do the job pretty well.

Stanley ratchets are the same as the Husky line sold at HD.

All the tools were of very high quality. Very low price for a set of tools worth much, much more. The only problem was that there were 2- 1/2" sockets, with out a 9/16" in this set that was sent me. I'm very satisfied with the product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised, August 9, 2005
This review is from: Stanley 89-803 62 Piece Professional Grade Mechanics Tool Set (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is one very versatile tool set. The only thing missing is a set of needle-nosed pliers. Other than that, the tools are of good quality and should be able to handle most jobs of the jobs you would expect them to. I bought these on sale and for the amount I paid for this set, I'd say I was pleasantly surprised.

Comes in a tough little case with all the tools inside. Actually I bought this cause it was in sale and have no real knowledge about the quality of the tools inside. I guess I thought buying some tools would magically give me the ability to fix stuff. Needless to say I haven't opened the box since I bought it and I still can't fix things worth a darn.
