Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

This Stanley Professional Grade Mechanics Tool Set features 151 tools forged from high-quality steel, finished in high-polish nickel or black chrome, double plated for corrosion resistance. This tool set features long shank wrenches for more torque transfer capacity, ergonomically designed high-torque pear head ratchets including handles with a simple thumb-operated reverse-switch mechanism, and sockets and extensions that remain locked until disengaged with an easily reached quick-release button. Stanley sockets also include the Max-Drive design, which with its radius corner design provides 15 percent more torque to tighten fasteners and easily turn rounded corners. By minimizing contact on the outer 5 percent of the fastener, Max-Drive also increases the life expectancy of fasteners, as well as reduces slipping on rusted or frozen fasteners. All tools meet or exceed both ANSI and DIN standards and come in an securely latched case for easy transporting. This tool set comes fully assembled, ready to use, and is backed by a limited lifetime manufacturer's warranty.

Versatile, durable, and designed to accomplish tasks efficiently.

Designed to meet high standards for quality and performance. See a video for Stanley Tool Sets.

About Stanley Professional Grade Mechanics Tools
Stanley's Professional Grade Mechanics Tools offer high performance to the home-owner and "shade-tree" mechanic for use in the car, boat and home. A good quality set of mechanics tools is one of the absolute essentials for anyone who has a multitude of projects to complete, including the assembly of exercise equipment, outdoor equipment and repairs on homes, cars, and bikes.

Professional Grade Mechanics Tool Sets include socket sets used for quick removal and replacement of fasteners such as nuts, bolts and Torx fittings, often in places too tight for ordinary wrenches or where the fastener has seized and a wrench simply slips off. Stanley's Professional Grade Mechanics Tools are designed to meet the stringent standards for quality and performance set by professionals. Each tool is forged from high-quality steel providing smooth and safe edges, as well as a professional grade full-polish, smooth finish that makes the tools easy to handle, easy to clean and corrosion resistant. The patented pear-head ratchets offer a flush, quick-release button that locks and releases sockets with only one finger to keep sockets from separating from the ratchet during use. Additionally, the pear-head is equipped with a single finger reverse mechanism that smoothly switches during use enabling the user to maintain their position, even in hard to reach places. With gears designed up to 72-teeth, the ratchets require less arc swing (only 5-degrees) to engage and maneuver fasteners in tight spaces with speed and control.

All sockets in the line have Maxi-Drive technology that provides 15-percent more torque with less slippage or risk of rounding fasteners. This feature also makes it easier to turn old, rusted or worn fasteners with, rounded heads that may not fit perfectly. The combination wrenches have long, beefy shanks that deliver more torque and greater durability.

The Stanley Story

The Stanley Works, originally a bolt and door hardware manufacturing company located in New Britain, Connecticut; was founded in 1843 by Frederick T. Stanley. A few years later, in 1857, Frederick’s cousin, Henry Stanley, founded The Stanley Rule and Level Company. In 1920, The Rule and Level Company merged with The Stanley Works and would go on to become it’s famous Hand Tools Division. Over the years, The Stanley Works has produced some of the most innovative and useful tools ever made. Among these tools are the Bailey Plane, the Surform shaper, the PowerLock tape rule and most recently the FatMax line of products. Today, more than ever, Stanley continues to be an industry leader in tool innovation. In 2001, Stanley introduced more than 100 new products, bringing to 400 the number of new products introduced in the past four years. As a direct result of Stanley’s commitment to excellence, Stanley was awarded the Prestigious Golden Hammer Award, presented for New Product Innovation in both 2000 and 2001.

These tools are made in China. I also ordered a 246 piece tool set, which is made in Taiwan. The Taiwan tools are ok, the Chinese tools are defective. The 1/4 ratchet did not work at all. I sent them back. I also have 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch Proto socket sets made by Stanley in the USA. They are great, and well worth the extra money. You will not be happy with the Chinese junk!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Some of the best consumer market tools!, July 21, 2006
This review is from: Stanley 89-806 Professional Grade Mechanics Tool Set, 151-Piece (Tools & Home Improvement)
Stanley tools are still one of the top names in american tools. Even though they do manufacture most of their tools overseas. Most of the China made stanley tools are a basic consumer grade tool which will not hold up to real abuse. All of the American and Tiwan made tools are true pro-grade and will stand up to anything. Just make sure the back of the box says "made in Tiwan" when you buy stanley tools. Give stanley pro-grade an honest try and you will find they are better than craftsman and other top names. The fit and finish is top notch, the metal used is great, and stanley has a great return policy. Just call stanley with the part number on the broken tool (if you can manage to break one) and they send you a replacment the same day. If the broken tool is worth more than $8, they send you a postage paid box for you to send the broken tool back with. If you are serious about tools, you are going to be impressed with Stanley Pro-Grade.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Setup but.....Some problems, November 15, 2006

Was really excited to get the set and when I go to assemble my first project, I notice there is no 16mm socket or wrench in the set. It is as if was completely looked over by Stanley. The sockets are lined up 12mm,13,14,15,-?????-17,18mm, etc.....Does 16mm not EXIST? Really dissapointing - this will be going back. :>(
