Amazon.com Product Description

The Stanley 92-714 SAE Combination Wrench Set features 11 high-polish chrome wrenches that meet or exceed the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for ratchets. The box end of the Stanley Combination wrench employs the Max-Drive system, which allows the box end to contact the fastener away from the corner. This system allows 15 percent more torque to be applied to the fastener and helps reduce fastener rounding. High polish chrome wrenches are easier to clean than matte finish wrenches. These wrenches come with a storage tray/pouch for easy storage and organization. The wrenches are backed by a lifetime warranty.

The Stanley Story

The Stanley Works, originally a bolt and door hardware manufacturing company located in New Britain, Connecticut; was founded in 1843 by Frederick T. Stanley. A few years later, in 1857, Frederick’s cousin, Henry Stanley, founded The Stanley Rule and Level Company. In 1920, The Rule and Level Company merged with The Stanley Works and would go on to become it’s famous Hand Tools Division. Over the years, The Stanley Works has produced some of the most innovative and useful tools ever made. Among these tools are the Bailey Plane, the Surform shaper, the PowerLock tape rule and most recently the FatMax line of products. Today, more than ever, Stanley continues to be an industry leader in tool innovation. In 2001, Stanley introduced more than 100 new products, bringing to 400 the number of new products introduced in the past four years. As a direct result of Stanley’s commitment to excellence, Stanley was awarded the Prestigious Golden Hammer Award, presented for New Product Innovation in both 2000 and 2001.

4.0 out of 5 stars good set for the money, November 6, 2009

I rated these 4 stars based on quality for the price. I also ordered the metric set and a similar socket set. All 3 sets were branded Stanley and the individual tools were marked as such, but in reality these are the same tools sold under a variety of names and produced in China. It's been a long time since Stanley made tools in Boston and London and is essentially just a marketing firm today. The secret to Chinese products is that they come in many different quality levels that isn't always indicated by the retail price. Don't blame the Chinese for this, it has to do with mark up and distribution costs. These tools are pretty close to the top of the heap and undoubtedly made in a modern ISO factory. They have a smooth, nicely chromed finish and, so far, the steel quality has proven to be strong enough to withstand cosmetic and structural damage. However, these are consumer tools and not intended for industrial work. Full time mechanics and ship workers need not apply.

All 3 sets are ideal for the homeowner and will probably last a lifetime in that environment. My only reservation is the packaging is less than ideal. The combo wrenches come in a plastic "rack" of useless design that doesn't seem to fit anywhere. Plan on buying 1 or 2 pocketed tool rolls. Additionally, the socket set comes in a nice plastic box that is about twice as big as it needs to be. Again a suitable roll up designed for sockets is recommended. Finally, the rachet wrench included with the socket set works, but doesn't have a particularly solid feel to it. The handle is smooth (not knurled) and the pear head feels a little imprecise. But for the homeowner it's more than sufficient.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good wrenches, good value, June 20, 2010

Overall a good value. The holder these come in has a cover that re-closes and the wrenches fit snugly in place, allowing you to actually use it to keep your wrenches organized and in one place. The wrenches themselves seem to be well made and carry a lifetime warranty, I have yet to put these wrenches to the extreme test that I have my other brand, the ones sold by a large department store chain. I'm sure if you are a mechanic by trade these aren't for you, but for occasional use they should do the trick. The only reason I gave four instead of five stars is I haven't put these these through the wringer yet and don't know how well they will take it.

Decent wrenches.

Not high quality but not low budget either....and I like full polish because it is easy to wipe them down after use.

I use these at work and know that some wll be damaged or lost or stolen so 17 bucks is pretty good value for the wrenches.
