About Stanley Sockets
Stanley sockets feature the proprietary Max-Drive design, a unique radius corner design which provides 15 percent more torque, making it easy to tighten fasteners and simplifies the turning of rounded corners. This technology helps reduce fastener wear without contact on the outer 5 percent of the fastener, so fasteners last longer. This helps reduce slipping on frozen or rusted fasteners. Stanley sockets are manufactured worldwide with high alloy steel and heat treated for performance.

I'm very pleased with the quality of these sockets.

I compared similar set (different generic brands, not Craftsman) at Home Depot, Wal-mart, this seems better.

I was looking for a cheap metric socket set for an oil change when I came across these 40-piece kits. Most of the value sets I came across had negative reviews centering around build quality which made me wary. Then I came across this Stanley kit. Stanley isn't exactly a name on the same platform as Craftsman or Snap-On, but I've always known it to be a decent brand that made decent products at an affordable price. I was hesitant at first because I couldn't find what exactly it included, but I eventually found the list on another site. While it's double the price of the cheaper no-name alternatives, it includes a limited lifetime warranty so I took a chance and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and value of this socket set. For those of you who find yourself in a similar situation, here's what it includes:

* 3/8" drive pear head ratchet w/ quick release
* 3/8" drive extension bar (3" long)
* 3/8" to 1/4" drive adapter
* 7x 3/8" drive SAE 6 pt sockets: 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 11/16", 3/4"
* 7x 3/8" drive metric 6 pt sockets: 12mm, 13mm, 14mm, 15mm, 16mm, 17mm, 18mm, 19mm
* 1/4" drive spinner handle (screwdriver-type handle)
* 7x 1/4" drive SAE 6 pt sockets: 5/32", 3/16", 7/32", 1/4", 9/32", 5/16", 11/32"
* 8x 1/4" drive metric 6 pt sockets: 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, 9mm, 10mm, 11mm
* 1/4" drive bit adapter
* 6x drive bits: Phillips #1, #2, #3 and flat head 3, 4, 5

All of this is included in a compact plastic carrying case. The sockets fit snugly over bolts and nuts and the ratchet feels sturdy. My oil pan drain bolt was over-torqued by the previous oil changer, but, with a little work, the ratchet and 13mm socket combo was able to loosen it.

This is a very useful tool set. The sockets are 6 points which I like better. The case is small, about 6x10 inches closed, making it easy to carry around the wrecking yards. Instead of two ratchets there is an adapter you can use to switch between 1/2 and 3/8 size sockets, so you only need to carry one ratchet. This is perfect for occasional use in your garage or carry in your car.

With the good quality and life time warranty, the price is a good bargain (with Prime free shipping). I compared similar set (different generic brands, not Craftsman) at Home Depot, Wal-mart, this seems better. This set is complete and good enough for light to medium duty around house and car.

This is a good starter set for someone who has no sockets,(like the person I bought it for). It could use a spark plug socket. Other than that it's a great set for the money,

I needed a metric socket set for both my Japanese cars. SAE, or English if you like, sockets simply will not do. A cheaper quality from OSH with just the metric sets also sell for the same price. I know because I bought one. The cheap ratchet cannot hold the sockets in place, making work more difficult. But this Stanley Socket Set was way better. Not only does the ratchet have a sturdy grip on the socket, it also has an easy, quick release to eject the socket. Not only did I get what I wanted, I also got SAE sockets for a bonus. This do-it-yourself guy could not be any happier.

Perfect travel case! Doesn't have too many sockets to confuse a person looking to change their oil or fix around the house things! Just what I needed by a trusted brand! Stanley Rocks!

Stanley, Craftsman, and SnapOn all rule, but vary in price. If you can nail a good deal for the basics that will be pounded on regularly, like ratchets-sockets, or the other fundamentals in your tool box, then good for you.
I saw a sweet deal in this socket set, ratchet wrench, and bonus screwdriver handle for the sockets.
I am very happy with the brand name, the price, the value, and the vendor.
This is a guy who just started replacing all his basic tools and such from scratch.
Tools are not cheap, if you get the good stuff.
And the good stuff is really the only thing that belongs in your tool box.
Stanley rocks, and this is one damn nice price for the metal you get.
Cheers All.

Prior to buying this set I owned a Harbor Freight 50 piece set that imho was borderline garbage for any kind of professional use. This set is 10 times more solid. The 3/8" ratchet itself is apparently built to last and uses an easy-to-reach lever to switch direction rather than the standard twist switch on the the back of the tool head. Another feature of the ratchet is the push button release. The variety of sizes included is not bad as it's covered every nut and bolt I've encountered. One accessory that sold me on.this set is the 1/4" square-to-hex adapter for driving bits, an accessory that I've had before from other brands but non as solid as the one included here. I imagine a professional mechanic or assembler needing or wanting a more premium name in ratchet sets but for the the average professional handyman like me this set is excellent.
