GOOD
-the contents said 2- 3/8" spark plug sockets but it's 3/16" and 5/8"
-Stanley owns MAC tools so they're probably made at the same place
-the case actually holds the pieces quite well
-the cheapest deep well set you will find from a reputable company

BAD
-the picture is off a bit= where the 3in. extension(for 1/4" drive)is actually where the other spark plug socket resides the 3in. extension sits under the 6in. extension
-plastic screws hold the case together at hinge (case is cheap any way but this just adds to the fact)
-the tools have the same effect of touching a news paper.(you get black
residue on you hands)this will probably stop if you wipe them down when you first get them

I saw a set of black chrome tools a Lowes manufactured by HUSKY they appear to be exact aside from branding for 69.99, ten dollars more but they're in store
the packaging is "different" when you first open the set you will have to undo 10 or so philips screws to remove a clear plastic packaging over the sockets and what not.
Overall this set was worth the money

I needed a fairly inexpensive socket set in both SAE and Metric, I opted for this smart-looking offer from Stanley. I paid quite a bit more to get these black, laser-etched set over bright chrome. Although it is a decent-looking set, there are a couple of caveats that I would have liked to have known before ordering.

The laser etching is not very deep at all. I can't even feel a depth to the markings. Maybe I envisioned this wrong but I anticipated deep laser markings. It looks to me that after a few bouts with grease and solvents, the gold-color identification will wear off. Not something that would happen with the deep markings on a typical bright chrome set and not a desirable feature when paying more than bright chrome. I am glad they have a good warranty, as long as the markings are covered.

I was disappointed to handle the pieces for inspection and have my hands blackened from a coating, which I assumed to be a type of cosmoline to protect the finish. These are supposed to be black chrome. Why would this finish need added protection? So the set would look at smart as the picture, I had to hand polish each piece using WD-40. Not a big deal but not expected, either.

The case quality was mentioned in another review. Some pieces fit rather loose in the case and some are very tight, even being difficult to pry out.

I came close to exchanging this set for bright chrome and refund of difference but they will suffice for my lighter-duty needs. Looks like I'm the first to rate this set 3 out of 5. This set will work but, to me, it has a few misgivings.

I have been very happy with the purchase of this socket set. First, I will tell you that I use it for DIY projects around the house. I am not hard on my tools and do not use them on a daily basis. What I was looking for was a quality set at a decent price, and one that would have pretty much every socket and accessory I may need. This fit the bill perfectly. I know the black finish will seem gimmicky to the true professional, but I like them. I will agree with another reviewer that the case holds the sockets very well - perhaps too well - they are sometimes difficult to remove. Lastly, and MOST importantly, when I am using these tools they feel like a quality product rather than a cheap one. The sockets fit snugly on the handles, and the the handles smoothly release each socket. If you want socket set for DIY home projects which works well, has everything you should need, and you don't want to pay too much for it. This is it.

My friends are jealous by my ratchet set. They can't steal my tools because they are black. These tools look and feel quality. The case isn't the best, but I don't have any real major problems with it. It can be difficult to get the pieces in and out of the toolbox depending on the part. I like the fact that it comes with an extending rod. That is the thing that the smaller sets needed. This was a great value.

I used this to replace the 4 struts/shocks on my car today. I got these to replace some B&D sockets that BROKE when I was using them on some stubborn, rusted nuts and bolts.

These sockets took a SERIOUS beating today and a CRAZY amount of torque without showing any signs of wear. They got through every nut and bolt I threw at them. I was really impressed. You can tell by handling them that they are made well and of good quality.

I added about 1.5 feet of breaker bar to the ratched and put all my 200 lbs into it. It took the strain without failing. I kept looking at it and saying "wow."

I found it very helpful that the numbers are laser etched on each socket. It makes it easy to tell which one you are using and which one you need.

Would definitely recommend and buy again. Can't wait to use them again. Plus the lifetime warranty means you can beat the heck out of them!

there great tools i use them for collision repair and there durable works well i use these almost every day i have used other tools but i like these the best they have the quick release and the switch is labeled left and right which is nice to have i would recommend these tools

Decent little set of tools, black chrome..laser etched. typically I use craftsman or snap-on, but took a shot at this set for around the house work. SOLID! well worth the money. The case holds the sockets really really tight...some had to be forced out. But with use I suspect they will get easier to pop in and out. The case was nice and thin, easily stuffed under or behind many vehicle seats.

This is an impressive set of sockets. There is nothing missing from this bad boy. If you need a certain size it is there. Quality and finish is exceptional for the money why spend more?

This is a nice set for way less than SK, Proto and others. The sockets are narrow and well marked with large easy to read numbers. If they made a 1/2 drive set in the black chrome; I would also buy it. Shipping was quicker than estimated. Feel comfortable buying these.

I purchased these to bring my collection of sockets back up to snuff. They do the job well.

I should give this item five stars but I feel the black color is actually a hindrance to the items function. I'll explain. When working outdoors with these, if you drop one it can be very difficult to spot on the ground or in a dark area such as under the intake of a car. I of course could have got these in chrome I suppose. But, was drawn to the black color because I liked the finish.

They are very well made tools, and I have no complaints other than I should have got the chrome.
