4.0 out of 5 stars Good kit
I bought this kit to keep in the house and avoid having to run to my larger tool chest in the garage when I need a couple of basic tools. In general, the tool quality is good for general household use, and I really only have two complaints about the kit.

1.0 out of 5 stars Comes in a package sealed with a screw
This tool set has the most aggravatingly stupid packaging that I've ever seen. The tools come in a cheap plastic box that is sealed with a philips screw. Yes, that's right, you need tools to open this tool set, which most likely was bought because you didn't have tools in the first place. Requiring a screw driver to open the case is so infuriatingly stupid that I shudder...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good kit, January 4, 2009
This review is from: Stanley 94-248 65-Piece General Homeowner's Tool Set (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this kit to keep in the house and avoid having to run to my larger tool chest in the garage when I need a couple of basic tools. In general, the tool quality is good for general household use, and I really only have two complaints about the kit.

The first that is that the ratchet is basically junk (but what can you really expect for $43?). It's O.K. for light duty work, but don't expect to crank on it very hard without it breaking. If you think you'll need this tool often, consider buying a higher quality ratchet and socket kit.

The other issue that I have is that there are no wrenches included in the kit. I plan on picking up a cheap crescent wrench to add to mine. (Come on, Stanley, increase the price a few bucks if you have to, but make this a complete kit by adding a crescent wrench!)

Finally, the plastic box that the tools come in is nice from the standpoint of being able to quickly locate a tool, but the box takes up a lot of storage space. I bought a small tool bag to keep the tools in, and I found it more convenient. You have to look a little closer to find the tool you want with the bag, but there aren't enough pieces in this kit to create problems finding tools.

4.0 out of 5 stars This Kit is Awesome! But..., November 30, 2010

This tool kit is awesome! Major! The Quialty is good, and everything includes in ths kit is good!

But... It took me a while to open this kit, tried all ways and it didn't open till I saw that its closed with a screw... Can u tell me why this is closed with a screw??? Go in any chain store, u will see thousands of items and nothing is closed with a screw, and this item is a tool set kit, so if someone bought it means he don't have a screw driver so how should I open it?

I would give this product a 5 star but the manufacture should do such a mistake they don't deserve a 5 start.

But overall I like it, just make sure to read my review before u buy it so u know u have to borrow from a friend a screw driver to open it

5.0 out of 5 stars decent brand, good quality, October 12, 2008

Stanley is definitely a descent brand and this tool set is pretty enough for everything i need. The only thing I want to complain a little is you need t a screw driver to open this tool set. (If I had a screw driver, I may not need to buy a tool set!) Other than that, that's all fine!

If you're just a normal person who uses a telephone to call a repairman more often than a tool set, this one is perfect. It has everything, and it feels solid and will hold up perfectly well under easy use. The master handyman had better upgrade a bit. Closing the top without pieces falling out is an art that can be mastered.

5.0 out of 5 stars I don't share!, April 18, 2010

I bought this set for my son for Christmas. We laughed because you need a screwdriver to open the case. Of course there's one 'inside'. I was so tired of everyone walking away with all the general household tools that I immediately ordered another of this set for myself and I keep it in my closet. If someone needs to use it they have to check it out and in so I know exactly where 'my tools' are and who's using them. It has everything you would need for a general household set.

1.0 out of 5 stars Comes in a package sealed with a screw, February 26, 2011
This review is from: Stanley 94-248 65-Piece General Homeowner's Tool Set (Tools & Home Improvement)
This tool set has the most aggravatingly stupid packaging that I've ever seen. The tools come in a cheap plastic box that is sealed with a philips screw. Yes, that's right, you need tools to open this tool set, which most likely was bought because you didn't have tools in the first place. Requiring a screw driver to open the case is so infuriatingly stupid that I shudder to think of what kind of neanderthal product managers are roaming the headquarters at Stanley to allow this to happen.

Sealing a toolbox with a screw is akin to buying a calculator that comes in packaging that can only be opened by first figuring out some really complex differential equation that necessitates the use of the calculator inside.

I ended up using my incredible brute strength to rip open the case with my bare hands. The tools are seemingly fine, but really, if I wanted to undertake an exercise in stupidity, I'd go watch TV.

If it had an adjustable wrench I'd give it 5 stars. As is, though, it's a great set that includes most tools you'll need and use regularly. We got this for our RV and it has already come in pretty handy. The case is nicely organized and it's easy to open and close. The tools and case seem to be very durable.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT PRODUCT, March 18, 2010

This review is from: Stanley 94-248 65-Piece General Homeowner's Tool Set (Tools & Home Improvement)
The Stanley 65-piece General Homeowner's Tool Set is a solid buy. The pieces are well constructed and is far from some of the flimsy tools for the same money.

The price here is also very good. I'm not sure you'll find it cheaper anywhere else, and if you do, not by more than a few dollars. But if you shop around you'll also see it for much higher.

If you need a good all-round tool set this is one to get.

3.0 out of 5 stars Awesome tools, very poor case, November 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Stanley 94-248 65-Piece General Homeowner's Tool Set (Tools & Home Improvement)
The Stanley tools name speaks for itself, AWESOME! But the tool box is terrible, I have to push really hard to "snap" the tools into their pre-cut locations. Then the tools simply fall out of place. There is only one way the tools can fit in the case, a tool bag would be a much better option!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Tool Set - Easy to Use, Practical for Almost Everything, September 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Stanley 94-248 65-Piece General Homeowner's Tool Set (Tools & Home Improvement)
This tool set is very durable and extremely practical for most common household repairs and maintenance tasks. Short of building a house itself, everything in this kit is ideal for fixer-upper projects as well as minor installations. I'd definitely recommend this product.
