Problem for public use,

This review is from: Stanley Bostitch Personal Heavy Duty Desktop Stapler with AntiJam Mechanism, 60 Sheet Capacity (PHD-60) (Office Product)
We first purchased these staplers for a busy academic library for our patrons' use. The first year they were terrific. This past year, every single stapler broke by the third day of use. The loading device has a small plastic nub that is critical for the proper functioning of the stapler. That nub broke in every single stapler. We duck-taped the loader and got more mileage from each stapler that way but the whole situation was very difficult. It is an example of a great product that went wrong through a cheapened manufacturing process. This might be ok for your desk, but for public or heavy duty use, avoid it.

The Stanley-Bostitch Heavy Duty Stapler PHD-60 is easy on the hands, can staples lots of paper and do it smoothly. I am very happy with it - use mine all the time.

I bought this stapler after the one I had became harder to use and the staples were becoming mangled. I had to 'double staple' because the first staple bent out of shape. This stapler works great. Whether I'm stapling 2 sheets or 30 sheets. Probably staples more than that but for my needs it works perfectly.

Just got it. Stapled a half dozen 50 page documents without a problem. It was the cheapest one I could find.

Before breaking, this stapler worked fairly well and I never had it jam. However, when you use the stapler, you'll notice than when you push down on the handle to staple some pages, the stapler will frequently rock forward towards you. A bit strange, but it still functions. However, after about 5 months of use, my stapler snapped in two right above the metal staple-folding insert on the base of the stapler. Now, of course, the stapler is completely worthless.Very disappointing. I'd avoid this stapler; it just doesn't hold up well under moderate use.

This is NOT the heavy duty stapler that it is advertised to be. It jammed the first time my wife used it (granted, she goes through staplers like #2 pencils, but that's why I spent the bucks to get one that wasn't, supposedly, flimsy). The irony here: it has an "anti-jam" mechanism! And worse, there is no way to open it from the top to remove the staples! Or maybe there is, but it does not come with directions! I had to pry them out from the bottom with pliers.Further, the staple-feeding cover on the other end is nearly impossible to open, OR close. So it fails at both ends. Redeeming quality: it is very nice looking and rugged. As a door-stop, it will probably last forever.

I bought this stapler because my old Swingline finally jammed so bad I couldn't revive it. I wanted a stapler that I couldn't kill for my home office. Since I'm often stapling several sheets together this seemed like a good choice. So far I'm very happy with it.It's a good size and has a very sturdy feel to it. I got these Stanley Bostitch Premium Quality Heavy Duty Staples for PHD-60 Stapler, 5,000 Count Box (SB35PHD-5M) to go along with it and have tried stapling about 15 pages without any problem. I've posted some photos on this site so you can see the size. It's definitely bigger than my old one but I like the idea of being able to staple more than just a couple pages. It loads from the back which I've been able to do without incident. I posted some photos of it open so you can see how it loads. I think this stapler will be with me for a long, long time.

I read the reviews about the troubles some people have had and I don't get it. This is the third stapler of this exact same kind I have purchased for my two offices and we've never had a problem, except that in extreme weather conditions, the handle snapped off (guess it got too cold, but then it was below freezing!) I've even used non Bostitch staples and multiple users and have had no problem. Can't beat the price!

Only one strike needed. You need three Swings for other products. It's a homer for sure.

I was looking for a flat clinch stapler... The description of this stapler said"Flat clinch stapling reduces corner stack up". I assumed this to mean that this stapler could flat clinch... It didn't. Then after about the 5th use - it started continually jamming. With no obvious way to easily open the stapler and clean out whatever fragment of a staple must have been stuck in there - I opted to return it. Also - these were brand name staples I was using. I'm now using the same staples in a regular Max Flat-Clinch Black Standard Stapler with 30 Sheet Capacity (HD-50DFBK) stapler with much better results |
