So i read all the negative reviews but I said to myself, how could any company design a bad sharpener after decades of sharpeners right? Well, guess what? This is absolutley the worst sharpener i've ever encountered, but at the same time it looks great! so if you want a 2 pound paper weight then go right ahead and buy this : )

I opened the box, pluged it in.. first off there is only one blade, and you'd think that sould be enough rihgt? well, it turns out, it only sharpens one side of the pencil exposing the lead tip.... so you figure you could just rotate while you sharpen right? but you can't because you have to push so hard that the pencil will slip out of your fingers.. what a pain. So after trying this for 5 pencils, on my 6th pencil (none of the tips were cut correctly) it stapped sharpening pencils all together! So i returned it. I'm gonna fork over about $50 for a double blade sharpener like I should have to begin with.

Don't say you wasen't warned.

Of course, I cannot guarantee myself or others about the longevity of this product, but I have been very impressed considering the price. My old sharpener was probably a decade old. This one is much more modern and clean in appearance.

Furthermore, it puts a beautiful tip on the end of the pencil. One of the two I purchased is used by multiple people, and it is going great a month into service. The second one is for my home desk. This does not feel like a single digit item. I would purchase while the price is low, especially if you combine it with free Prime Shipping or Discount Shipping.

Recommended. At this price, if it doesn't last as long as I hope, I will not be heartbroken. However, the sharpener is heavy in weight, and I think it may surprise me.

A whole lot of noise and nothing to show for it. This sharpener is dull, slow, noisy and takes F_O_R_E_V_E_R to sharpen a pencil. I returned it right away.

We bought 3 for us and the 3rd grade class. They work well, are simple to use and appear to be durable, even in the hands of 3rd graders.

I had great hopes for this sharpener but I am disappointed. You have to push pretty hard on the pencil to activate the cutters. The sharpener makes a high pitched squealing sound as it sharpens which is very annoying. The auto-stop feature is shaky. There is no way to really know when the pencil is done. Just have to keep checking it, same as any other sharpener. I would not buy this again.

This sharpener stopped working not long after purchase. I called Bostitch to request a replacement and found their return policy expenditure laden, with an exorbitant turn around time which deepens customer inconvenience for faulty products. The price to ship item back along with a two month turn around is not worth the effort. Largely disappointing was Bostitch's lack of customer friendly product support. Clearly they will only stand behind a defected product only after swimming through a sea of red tape. NO MORE BOSTITCH products for our company! BUYER BEWARE!!!!

In the right place this might be acceptable. In my house it lasted no more than five minutes. Literally. I let my three-year-old boy use it to see if it was kid friendly and within five minutes he had broken the sensor switch so it stayed on all the time. If I hadn't unplugged it the motor would have overheated and burned up.

Now, I'm a handy guy, so I dismantled the thing and found the broken switch and crammed and bent it around until it worked better. It's saying something that the switch was even repairable, as so much stuff these days isn't. Maybe that comes from being made in America (see my posted image). I haven't had a problem with the switch, ever since, but there are other things.

The sharpening is always lop-sided. Others have pointed out that this is a side-effect of all one-bladed sharpeners. The only way to combat this is to rotate the pencil while inserting it - which is a level of strength and coordination available only to adults in their prime with practice.

On the plus side, it's quick. It sharpens from scratch twice as fast as my Panasonic and X-Acto sharpeners.

So, bottom line, if you aren't picky about clean, wood-free points; and if you aren't going to let kids use it; and if you are in a hurry to sharpen many pencils fast... then this one isn't too bad.

Last year, because my boys were constantly going through pencils and ye olde crank pencil sharpeners from the 60s were just chewing up wood rather than exposing lead, I invested in an electric pencil sharpener. It was love at first grind. Sadly, we moved a couple of months later and like many loves, this one met an untimely demise since to this day (despite having lived in this house for nearly a year), we have yet to find the much beloved pencil sharpener.

So when I had the opportunity to get another one through the Vine program (a different one than I had before), I jumped on the chance. My boys are so happy... it is truly the little things in life. Not only are they able to have a nice crisp lead for doing their homework, both boys love to draw using pencils and so they are very picky about their lead tips.

This pencil sharpener does as well as much more expensive brands and does not grind the pencil down to the eraser as some cheaper models do. Like many pencil sharpeners, you are going to have to keep one hand on the sharpener while you feed your pencil into it otherwise, the sharpener gets pushed back. The key, though to getting a nice sharp pencil lead is to not push too hard and cause the motor to overwork... try applying the minimal pressure at first and only push harder on the pencil if the sharpener doesn't seem to "grab" the lead.

My boys are very happy again (thank you Amazon). Now that we are going to be moving in 6 weeks again, I think my oldest son is going to personally pack this sharpener with his most beloved objects because he doesn't trust me not to allow it to get lost again. (a pencil sharpener that sharpens pencils... wonderful... a pencil sharpener that teaches personal responsibility? Priceless!)

Only sharpens one side, leaving wood on the other side. I returned it, and the replacement had the same problem. It does an unbelievable bad job of its sole function. This product should be removed from the market.

The term "heavy duty" is misleading here. I really think the makers need to test this thing in an elementary school classroom where pencil sharpening is a common occurence.

This is a sturdy tool that gets the job done quite nicely. My only complaint is that only about ten pencils can be sharpened before it refuses to take anymore. I suppose this does prevent an early burn-out, but it can be frustrating on those times when there needs to be mass sharpening done.
