5.0 out of 5 stars Great for any Truck Driver!!
I bought this for my husband who is a truck driver. I had read the reviews and was a little worried being that some said after awhile it didn't keep stuff hot. However being that it was a Stanley (I only wish I could have found one of the older one's that where made in the USA, they don't make them anymore other than China) I thought what the heck. He has used it for...

I've got several older 1-quart bottles that work great; however, I am VERY disappointed with the new 2 quart bottle that I just purchased. I have pre-filled with boiling water and the thing still won't keep coffee hot more than 3 hours, even in moderate temperatures. It is literally luke-warm in 3 hours! I have pre-filled with boiling water and the thing still won't keep coffee hot more than 3 hours, even in moderate temperatures. It is literally luke-warm in 3 hours! So, you may ask, what about that "famous" Stanley Lifetime Guarantee? Good luck.....they won't even return my E-mails. I don't know what happened to this once great company, but I will never buy another Stanley Thermos (except maybe an older one). I haven't looked into it, but I would suspect that their products are no longer "American Made" if you know what I mean. Anyone want to buy a cheap thermos? Mine will be on E-bay......I'm buying a Nissan Vacuum Bottle.

Ok, I did not get the 2 QT Thermos, but a 1.4 QT Thermos. It was a warranty replacement. It is a lighter version of the USA made type of years past. Now Stanley-Alladin are putting their "Since 1913" seal of approval on these thermos that are Made in China. Sad. Very Sad. I can actually feel the difference in its' weight and metal composition. I am curious to see these thermos in the local stores. Are they Made in China also? I'll use this one out of necessity.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not boiling hot but just hot., March 20, 2009
This review is from: Stanley 2.0Qt Classic Brushed Vacuum Bottle (Sports)
I own both the Thermos Nissan 61 oz silver/black one and this Stanley brushed classic 2 qt. Fill them both with boiling hot water to the top and close for overnight. The next morning, the Stanley will be hot but barely enough to make a batch of tea which you can begin to sip immediately. The Nissan will literally burn your lips hot. ( Also have the Rugged 1 qt Stanley bottle but due to its smaller volume, it loses heat even faster ) I think the major problem is the head/neck which you can feel the heat with the bottle closed. For about the ten dollar difference, go for the Nissan over the Stanley.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stanley vs Thermos...results..., January 3, 2010
This review is from: Stanley 2.0Qt Classic Brushed Vacuum Bottle (Sports)
I was in the market for a larger thermos. I read some good reviews on here so I decided to purchase the Stanley. After purchasing the Stanley I put it to the test up against my 31 ounce thermos brand thermos. I filled both the Stanley and the thermos with 2 cups of boiling water at 7:00pm. I waited to open them up 12 hours later at 7:00am and here are the results.

Thermos brand: upon opening you could see steam and it was piping hot to the touch.

Stanley brand: no steam and room temp.

Thermos was clearly the winner.

I will be returning my Stanley.

He has used it for awhile now, and we have not had 1 problem with it. It keeps his coffee warm for at least 12-14 hrs. I would definitely recommend this to all of our family and friends to purchase. I hope this review will help others to make the decision to buy this.

I ordered about 4 Stanley products for Father's Day gifts. Stanley's have been used in my family for years. I thought they would be a great gift for my husband who eats his meals at work. Well they keep the food hot or cold and don't spill but the HUGE PROBLEM is the SMELL. Yep the smell. See the Stanley products maintain the smell of every food put into it. YES I do hand wash the Stanley products. I have tried soap, vinegar, baking soda and even bleach. Nothing stops the smell. My husband has quit using all of his Stanley products because it smells like every meal he has ever had in it. It really stinks. WE can't even use the Thermos for water because we can't get past the smell to drink the water. My husband ony used his Stanley products for a few months before we couldn't use them anymore. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND This Product to anyone. It is so sad because my family have always used Stanley and now the tradition ends with me.

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointed, November 16, 2011
This review is from: Stanley 2.0Qt Classic Brushed Vacuum Bottle (Sports)
It won't keep my coffee hot for more than a couple of hours even with pre-heating. When I poor in boiling water to pre-heat the outside immediately gets very hot .... this tells me that there is no vacuum. I've had this issue with another Stanley bottle as well. They replaced it twice under their warranty which was nice, but both of the new ones had the same problem. I won't buy another product from them again.

I seem to be the only reviewer who was suprised that a thermos bottle cost $40 bucks theese days. Sign of old age I guess. To me, the Stanley name meant qaulity. They have allways been known as a great company that makes quality products. Unlike other companies, I have found that Stanley refuses to compromise on thier qaulity standerds. However; this product, like most things now a days is made in China so time will tell on the quality issue. I have no doubt this bottle will last me forever! Not to mention it has a life time gaurentee. The Nissan/Thermos doesn't. Replacement parts are esily ordered unlike the Nissan/Thermos wich doesn't even offer parts on it's web site. It's 2 qt size is perfect for carring an entire 1/2 gallon of milk. The Nissan/Thermos version holds just 61 oz. Leaveing me 3oz. of left over milk. No big deal but still a concideration. 5 stars and Stanley deserves them at least thus far. The only minor issue is the cap/cup should be larger. It's 8oz. but for soup a larger cup like thermos of old would be nice. The reason behind the smaller 8oz cup over the larger bowl type cups is simple. Most people use a thermos for coffee, the 8 oz cup fits into most vehicle cup holders. Good idea actually. Still not a big enough deal for me to lessen the my rateing. The top doesn't leak wich is why I wanted another unit, my last one, a thermos brand bottle, started to leak like a sive, what a mess. This unit keeps cold liquid cold and hot liquid stays hot. Aparently so folks have had issues with thier Stanley but in most cases, Stanley resolved them. You can't please everyone. The Nissan/ Thermos brand bottle is rated cold and hot for 24 hours respectfully. Where as this Stanley unit rates it to stay hot for the same 24 hours but cold for an increased 32 hours. Again lets be fair when we test this. You can't leave it out in the 100 degree sun and expect the same cold temp to hold for 32 hours. It's 30% lighter than previous versions and retains it's tuffness. Im not sure thats a good thing or not. Lighter meens less material so who knows. Probably just hype but then again they have to honner thier lifetime warentee, you decided. It has a great look all stainless steel and almost no down side. Buy it! You will love it! I love mine! Thanks Stanley and never compromise your qaulity. Some people still want qaulity and will support your company. To bad Stanley sold out to exploit Chinese workers too. If I ever find one made in America, I'll buy it. Until then, i'll keep my Stanley.

UPDATE!

I recently discoved by accident when dealing with a similar Stanley product that if you submerge it, say over night and in the AM you can here water sloshing around, you have a vacume leak and a defective product. Not this one, this one is fine, but It did happen with a similar Stanley product recently. It's a great test should you ever expierence any cooling loss or heat retention issue with this type of vacume seal insulated prodcut. Just thought I would pass that on. Yes! not only did Stanley warenty the item and ship me a new one promptly, they contacted me! Yes you heard right, STANLEY CONTACTED ME! Wow! Can you imagine in this the days of customer no service, being left on hold endlessly, having your emails ignoored by nearly every company one has to deal with when issues occour. Not Stanley, they contacted me to resolve this. Look its $20 bucks, simply not worth another useless atempt on my part to get the issue resolved I just forgot about it. Not worth the trouble complaining about it. I was shocked when they contacted me. to say the least, I am very impressed with thier customer service and that they still stand behind thier products.

UPDATE: 8 month of daily use and it workds flawlessly!

2.0 out of 5 stars Cool on heat, October 20, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Stanley 2.0Qt Classic Brushed Vacuum Bottle (Sports)
This 2 qt vacuum bottle boasts it will keep your hot brew hot for apprx. 24 hours. Following filling first with boiling water and allowing to sit, before adding my hot beverage, I found it only kept coffee hot to warm for about 6-8 hours. Far short of the boastful 24 hours.
For you coffee drinkers, who intend on making a long day of it, in the on coming cooler season stay clear of this one. Suggestion: if you take milk with your coffee, heat it before adding. You may get closer to the 24 hr mark than I did.
Leaving by your campfire may help keep its heat as well.

I should have listened to previous reviews. This does not keep liquid warm for even an hour. It is so hard to find 2qt thermos I was hoping the previous reviewers happen to get a bad one and it wasn't the norm.
