5.0 out of 5 stars "Contractor Grade" Misleading
While the words "Contractor Grade" are misleading, this glue gun is "Top of the Line" for the serious hobbiest, although not intended for the Home Building Industry. Keeping in mind that this gun shuts off in approximately 15 minutes after trigger activation, I had no problems with trigger malfunctioning. Forcing trigger on cold glue stick, will...

1.0 out of 5 stars stanley hot glue gun
I bought two of these glue guns, and on both of them the trigger failed within aprox. 8 hours of use. Once the trigger fails, the glue gun will not heat up. They are junk and you would be wasting your money if you bought one.

The first one of these I had the trigger broke.I exchanged it for another, so far so good. This gun is well made and I was sure glad to see a heavy duty glue gun atlast. And hats off to stanley for such a cool looking tool.It is comfortable in the hand and clearly well designed. But the price well...... It's just too much.I've heard the trigger malfunction is a common problem. Maybe stanley has worked that bug out.I havent had any problems with my replacement gun. This baby sure puts out the glue volume and heats up real quick. The dual temp is a nice feature also. the auto shut off takes some getting used to but it will extend the life of the gun.I do recommend this tool to anyone who needs mass amounts of glue in one shot, otherwise shop around you may find something more suitable and less pricey

This is a fine glue gun. Acurate and very useful. The saftey feature can be a little frustrating if you don't plan ahead and layout your work before starting. (no real problem, but unexpected)

I'm happy with everything but the price.

Keeping in mind that this gun shuts off in approximately 15 minutes after trigger activation, I had no problems with trigger malfunctioning. Forcing trigger on cold glue stick, will cause problems with most all guns. My wife and I have used this gun, everyday for the past week and it has performed flawlessly. We

highly recommend it for the serious and skilled hobbiest. The extra extended tips and dual heat ranges are extremely handy and useful.

GREAT GUN WITH ONE BIG PROBLEM - LIKE MOST GLUE GUNS IT TAKES FOREVER TO HEAT UP TO WORKING TEMP. BUT UNLIKE MOST GUNS THIS ONE HAS A UNUSED TIME SAFETY SHUTOFF FEATURE. SOOOO - IF YOU DON'T GET BACK TO YOU R GUN FAST ENOUGH YOU HAVE TO START THE PROCESS ALL OVER AGAIN.

1.0 out of 5 stars DOES NOT WORK!, October 11, 2002

This heavy hot-melt glue-gun user was thrilled when she opened her new Stanley GR-100 christmas gift anticipating it would vastly improve her speed and gluing finesse; alas, the trigger on it is a great deal tougher to pull than my .38 (no mean feat - perhaps manufacturer wants you to carefully reflect upon the consequences of wanton gluing . . . )!!!! rendering it impossible for me to use at all! Gifter purchased it from off-beaten-track store and we never had time to exchange or get $$$ back for - save yourself a lousy experience and buy something else from someone easy to return to (as is in my experience Amazon[.com]).

The glue gun works great until you use one of the extension nozzles. Having a nozzle fall apart in the middle of a project is quite an experience. The aluminum nozzle expands much more than the copper extension tube which allows the copper tube to fall out into the middle of the hot glue. They should be made of the same material. This is a safety hazzard.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice to know that it was not just MY glue gun that did NOT work!, February 9, 2011
This review is from: Stanley GR100 Glue-Pro DualMelt Glue Gun (Tools & Home Improvement)
I spent more because I wanted a "better" glue gun; however, it only worked once ... after that it would not feed glue through. I trusted the brand name ... would never recommend it. Sounded good with the attachment but when no glue would come through it ... I now use smaller cheaper gun that works; all the time ~ every time!!

While I do recommend this gun if you're serious about being provided with a yellow multi-tiered and scaleable way of sticking things together (and note, this does have 2 nozzles -- great idea!) I have to still reccommend nails even more highly when you're dealing with wood.
