5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Nice!
I've been looking for something like this for a long time. As a smallish vise that can be easily clamped to any table (the table clamp surfaces are rubber coated too) and securely hold small to medium sized pieces at *any* angle it's nearly perfect. The only things I'd change would be to make the jaws a little deeper and add knurls to the clamp faces (which have nifty...

2.0 out of 5 stars not suitable for much beyond an extra hand
This vise was great as a basic clamp, or to hold something while being worked on, but attempted use as an actual vise caused the tightening screw to shear with only hand strength.
Rubberized clamps were a nice feature, the positionable ball is great, the device was simple and uncomplicated. But a major component breaking with only hand strength was very...

I've been looking for something like this for a long time. As a smallish vise that can be easily clamped to any table (the table clamp surfaces are rubber coated too) and securely hold small to medium sized pieces at *any* angle it's nearly perfect. The only things I'd change would be to make the jaws a little deeper and add knurls to the clamp faces (which have nifty removable rubber pads and a nice V cut for gripping round pieces). Those changes would just make a great product even better though. I haven't been able to find anything close to this and I've done a lot of searching.

Rubberized clamps were a nice feature, the positionable ball is great, the device was simple and uncomplicated. But a major component breaking with only hand strength was very disappointing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight vise, October 3, 2008

For the price I didnt expect a heavy duty product - and I was right. This vise is ok for light duty work, but if you have a rusty nut that requires some strong pushing and pulling this isnt the vice for you.

Works great. Clamps easily to desk or tabletop, swivels easily to the best angle for the work at hand, and the soft faces on the vise hold without marking. I use it with my Dremel tool to work on small projects, and it's a big help!

Whatever composite material this vice is made of split under very light pressure, hand-tightening the unit the very first time I tried to attach it to my workbench.

2.0 out of 5 stars Would have been nice, big design flaw, December 4, 2008

I got this at a steal $15 at Big Lots! I really liked it the first time I used it. But there is a reason it is cheap, the small bolt which operates the vice is only half as thick as it appears in one section. The second time I used it it snapped off! If all 150 pounds of me can break this thing the second time I used it, i'm pretty sure it will fail at some point for everyone.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Idea, But Weak Design, March 15, 2010
This review is from: Stanley MaxSteel 83-069 Multi-Angle Vise (Tools & Home Improvement)
If you want to work with light-duty projects at multipule angles, then this product would be 5 stars for you. But, if you want to do heavy-duty, or even medium-duty work with it - save your money. I just sheared off the vice shaft just trying to clamp in a medium sized hatchet so I could hone its edge and "Snap!". Now it's useless. I'm not even sure if I'd consider that medium-duty strength.

It's a great idea and concept. It's just not strong enough if you really need to clamp something in and need it to not move. I'll give it 3 stars for that. If it had not broken, I'd have given it 5.

It's just too bad that I have to throw away something that really could have been useful in all sorts of applications.

I won't be buying another one, but don't let this review deture you from purchasing this handy little clamp for light projects or crafts. It has infinite potential for that kind of work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Vice, April 5, 2009
This review is from: Stanley MaxSteel 83-069 Multi-Angle Vise (Tools & Home Improvement)
Well I bought this vice for my woodcarving shop, and this lttle vice is fantastic! It is the most used tool in my shop and out. I need to move position of my work to all different directions and this vice accomodates every position you need. Now I find myself carrying it out of shop all over to use as my second pair of hands.I'll clamp it on the picnic table and do work, heck I even take it to work to use. Its small and portable just for that. My only con is I wish they made a "next size bigger" for holding the large pieces of work. I Highly, Highly, recomend this vice to anyone needing a "hold your work" type vice.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good vice, March 3, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Stanley MaxSteel 83-069 Multi-Angle Vise (Tools & Home Improvement)
Good versatile little vice. Lightweight enough to be easily moved, but strong enough to hold anything for gluing, drilling, cutting or loosening stuff without banging on it. It has a 3" jaw opening, which is more than the other small vices out there.
Mine came with a slightly bend jaw tightening screw, so the jaw was going through a wobbling motion, and was catching on the side, and very annoying. I called Stanley, and costumer service was excellent. They said that they will send me a new jaw, but they send a whole new unit.
So far I'm liking this vice, and I'm not disappointed in the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars very useful, February 8, 2008
This review is from: Stanley MaxSteel 83-069 Multi-Angle Vise (Tools & Home Improvement)
This little vise is unique. It's nearly infinite adjustment capabilities combined with reasonable strength and build quality for such a light vise make it extremely useful, and an excellent value.
