This is an incredibly nice mug, it's solid as a rock, sturdy and very well built.

We own several Stanley Thermoses and love the quality. I purchased the Stanley coffee mug for my husband and he thought it was great--until he used it. Unlike the thermos, the outside of the mug gets hot to the touch. The mug does not retain heat, so coffee cools off quite rapidly. It's a nice-looking, durable mug, but not up to par with usual Stanley quality of keeping hot beverages hot.

Bought this mug because a friend of mine had it. The handle came off of his shortly there after. It was only held on by some cheesey tack welds (not very strong). Double walled construction is not vacuum sealed. You will be satisfied with this mug if, and only if, you drink your coffee very fast or prefer cold coffee and don't mind the handle breaking off the first minor impact it takes. The older Stanley products carried the Alladin name and were made in the USA. This does not and is made in china (and it shows). I have recently bought a Thermos brand mug and have been very satisfied with it thus far.

Plus: Stainless inside and out, plastic cap with very tight lid!Nice size for a mug if you like volume and ain't too dainty!

Cons: Does not keep stuff very hot/cold for very long. I also have a "Bolt" cup from Stanley that does a much better job.

Overall: Love the mug and the stainless inside and out. Great tight, no spill or leak lid. Not happy with the heat retention qualities and ditto on the cold side. Won't fit in a car cup holder if that is what you are looking for. I was not so this is an OK thing. Sits on uneven surfaces/tilted slopes due to it's wide base. Love it!

This sharp looking mug falls apart very easily. I have "chatted" with Stanley numerous times about getting a replacement screw on cap (the weak part), but they keep giving me the run around. There are better designs, and better companies. Stanley is now a quick buck outfit that outsources everything to China and thumbs its noses at its base.

I bought the Eddie Bauer (also says Stanley) branded version of this mug locally and am only giving it 2 stars. Nothing I have to say has anything to do with the Eddie Bauer sticker on it, or that it was over $30 (vs the $18.17 here, or the $18 on Stanley's website. I bought it there for that price because I had a store credit to use up.)

I love the finish on it, I have lots of mugs and vacuum bottles of various sizes and finishes but this one is the best looking. Stainless steel and smooth enamels are alright, but this is very manly and reminds me of a massive hydraulic paper cutter I used to work on. I believe it's called hammertone. That is the only reason I've given it two stars instead of one.

That this mug will almost certainly not fit in your vehicle's cup holder. I knew that when I bought it as I planned to use it at home but it should have had a high grip rubber pad on the bottom so that it doesn't slide around on your console if you do take it in your vehicle.

I've also found I need to be very careful to screw the lid on all the way, very very tightly. If it's even a smidgen undone it leaks all over the place. I don't know if they're all this way but I suspect a lot of people couldn't apply enough torque to get it to close to the point I have to in order to stop it from leaking out the threads.

Also when properly closed the mouth isn't 90 degrees from the handle. I don't mind it where it is, but if it were off by the same amount the other direction I'd have returned it.

It also doesn't seem particularly good at keeping the heat in, it's not terrible, but I wasn't very impressed, I suspect the lid is the biggest culprit.

this mug is made to look like Stanley quality, but performs about as well as a promo mug from a gas station. you can feel the heat through the bottom of the mug after about one minute after filling, though it is so obviously supposed to fool you into thinking you are getting the same quality of a vacuum bottle. obviously the people at PMI are not paying a bit of attention to the poor reviews this future piece of scrap gets or they would improve it 100% by making it vacuum insulated. seems like a no-brainer. i am thinking of returning mine per the lifetime warranty, but what would the advantage of receiving an identical piece of crap be? i give this two stars for style points, even though it's the style that traps consumers into buying something that does not perform as the Stanely of yesteryear, when it was a progressive company.

I just received my Stanley Mug this morning. I was hesitant to purchase this mug largely because of the many one, two and three star negative reviews. Some people really need to get their act together when reviewing a product. I am one of those individuals whom usually falls into the one star bad review trap. Well, I've been shopping on Amazon for well over 10 years and have come to learn that almost none of the one, two and even three star reviews are Accurate, Intelligent, Honest and Fair, Some of the idiots simply ruin the buying experience for some really good products as well as ruin the reputation of some very outstanding manufacturers. Bad reviews are also a game that selling competitors use to destroy the product to bolster their own sales, I'm sure many of you know this but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

So, all that being said and despite the horrible reviews for this mug I decided to give it a try so, I bought one. Once again the one, two and three star reviews were dead wrong. This is an incredibly nice mug, it's solid as a rock, sturdy and very well built. Stanley does not make junk and despite the fact it's "MADE" in China doesn't negate it's quality. Who cares where it's made so long as the product has Stanley's approval. Matter of fact, Stanley has very strict quality controls and if the Chinese are doing it wrong then Stanley can easily fix that. What's important here is the 'Lifetime Guarantee' that Stanley gives with all their products. Yep, they back up that guarantee and If something goes wrong with this mug or it's components all one has to do is send it back to Stanley for service or replacement.
