Great turntable,

I reviewed a number of turntables and decided on this one. It was a good choice. The delivery was on time and it did not take very long to set it up. I chose to use the line-in mode as I have a good soundcard on the PC and prefer not to burden it with extra USB drivers if it is not necessary. Based on reading the reviews, I had already downloaded the latest Audacity and played with it a little bit so there was nothing extra to do with that. The overall turntable setup took about 30 minutes including balancing the stylus.
My first run-through was just setting it up and playing an album to see how it operates. I didn't initially get a cleaning kit and soon discovered (relearning lessons from many, many years ago) one is absolutely needed. The last time I had a turntable was when any albums I purchased I kept protected and cleaned etc. The album I chose (One that was never put to CD and had to find it online) was produced back in the 80s (and therefore used). It was not in 'mint' condition so it had a number of 'pops' and 'clicks' on it. The cleaner took most of them out. Audacity was able to cleanup what was left except for a couple of songs. I won't go into too much other detail about recording the album to the PC as this review is about the turntable. I will say it was worth searching the net for information on using Audacity and what is recommended etc. I have had the turntable about a month now and have run through a number of albums at different times. I do like the pitch adjustment as the turntable has a built in strobe so you can keep the speed accurate. There has been no problems with the turntable and it seems to be the same reliable type of turntable I experienced from Stanton 'back in the day'. Only this time I can feed it directly into the PC. I like that.

I ordered this turntable for my significant other for Christmas. I did a little research before purchasing because I had no idea what I should be looking for in a turntable. I read that Stanton was a trusted brand and went with it.
It works great, we've had no issues with it. We use the table 3-4x a week. Beautiful sound. Easy to use.

I have just under 1000 albums, I first started purchasing them in 1962 the first being an album called Surfs Up. I had a few early turntables the best being a top of the line Akai with a pioneer sound system, but in 1988 I fell in love with an original Marantz CD player and soon forgot my albums. As I was moving around in my job I sold all the equipment and stored the albums. Lucky they were all put in the right size crates and were stored upright (more by accident than design) under my mother's house. Recently I was asked to move them as my mother had passed on and I had to clean the place out. I don't know why but couldn't part with them. Anyway to cut a long story short I decided to buy a turntable once again and record some of the albums that I had found were not available. After a long check on Amazon and other web sites I settled on the Stanton T55USB; I am not really sure why but something impressed me about it. I must say it is far superior to any of the turntables I used to have and plays and gives out a great sound, the only annoying thing is the arm doesn't return when the album finishes its side, but I give it 4.95 stars for sound and durability and with Audacity I have recorded many of my albums I haven't heard for years including the first one from 1962 "Surfs Up' with all its many click and pops gathered at countless parties when I was young. Most (not all) of which I managed to remove with Audacity.I recommend the Stanton T55USB Turntable and it is well worth the price for the enjoyment I have had for the many memories, when rediscovering the music some 50 years old I had forgot about. Sound also seems better than what comes via my CD player through the same Bose speaker system I have. PS I have a reasonable selection of CDs but many of the ones I purchased in the early 90's are no longer able to be played as they have deteriorated due to their age. ---- Long Live vinyl.
