5.0 out of 5 stars This is a cool item, but I wouldn't order it from here!
I ordered two (2) of these and both of them were in pretty bad shap when they arrived at my door. If you are looking for on or two of these in collector condition, then I would look elsewhere. I should know better, since I have ordered Star Wars collectibles from Amazon/ToysRUs, and they have arrived in pretty rough shape then as well. The item itself is very cool, and...

2.0 out of 5 stars A Little Small
I should have looked at the specs on this, but I thought the figure was a little SMALL, and I am going to have to open it up, as ole Darth's helmet fell off and is rolling around in the box. Other than that ... it looks pretty sweet!

The item itself is very cool, and know I have one display version, which I opened, and one that I will try to sell on Ebay who wants one for the same reason. The detail is amazing and the articulation in the Darth Vader figure is unlike any Vader figure before! It really is a great figure, but like I said I would consider ordering it from any place else before ordering it here!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Figure, July 30, 2005

First, pre-order is exactly that. Estimated ship times are often backed up. The reviews for the figure that are complaining about ship times are invalid for the figure. However, they are legit for Toys R Us, as too often the TRU website shows pre-orders for items that were released months and in at least one case, over a year earlier.
Second, for whatever reason, Amazon and TRU insist on poor packaging. Unless it is something you plan to open, DON'T purchase it from Amazon TRU or even KB toys online services. You'll be disappointed 8 out of 6 times.

The actual review for the 500th Darth Vader figure.

Articulation: 0/5
None.
Detail: 3.5/5
The Darth Vader itself has some nice detailing. Not what we've come to expect in figures over the past half decade; however, for a small 3-4 inch figure, there is some nice detailing. The chamber itself, however, is rather flat in the detailing.
Value: 2/5
$15-25 is what one can expect to pay. It features a $4-5 figure, inside a chamber that removes and replaces the helmet. So, in reality, the value is not all that great. However, it is still pretty cool looking.
Overall: 3.75/5
It's cool. It looks great both inside and outside of the packaging. It comes with a lightsaber, and of course, the meditation chamber and Darth Vader figure.
Regardless of the value and detail, and no matter what, this is still a must have figure, being an "anniversary" figure or, more accurately, diorama. Most Star Wars fans will enjoy this collector's edition set. It has display value over playability value. And, it looks good.
Pro's: Looks great. Lever provides a uniqueness to the diorama.
Cons: It's a $10 figure wrapped up in a $15-25 retail price tag.

Its great! This is a must have for any Star Wars fan! I love how the "mechanical arm" moves the helmet off an on Darth Vader's head and that he is sitting in his chamber, very cool and made well!

5.0 out of 5 stars " yes admiral..what is it?" celebrate the saga in style with this one !, June 30, 2006

this is a excellent figure..what a way for hasbro to clebrate their 500th figure. with none other than the sith lord darth vader himself in his hyperbaric chamber.
this figure is well done, vader himself is seated with the mechanical arm lowering his helmet onto him(or removing it..with a lever on the back) the figure has this "snap lock seal sound" when the figure is lowered and locked into place...vader also has his cape, and of course his deadly crimson bladed lightsaber...whats there not to like??

this figure is a special edition..so try not to open it( the packaging is beautiful also)..and the bottom has some information about the figure and a serial number is stamped on there is a cool pic of vader there as well. if you have to open one up make sure you get another one!

this was hard to find..it took me 3 months before i snagged one of these.. they sold out quickly at the stores and when episode III came out..these were nowhere to be seen..except on ebay with those uber inflated prices. this is a cherished piece in my collection...
the only way hasbro could make this better..would have been to include a sound chip with vaders "breathing" and the sound of the chamber opening and closing...but this is still fantastic. id give this figure a 10 if i could..its a class act..

The wonderfully articulated Star Wars 500th Darth Vader looks perfect sealed in the package, and makes the ultimate desktop display piece! You can also raise Vader's helmet using a lever that sticks out from the back of the sturdy display package. I've had so much fun with this figure sealed, and never have I been tempted to open him! This figure is certainly worth the price and would make the perfect gift this holiday season!

This is one of the coolest Darth Vader Figures. I collect so I do don't like to open the packages. Whoever on the design team that thought of making the packaging part of the display of the figure was thinking of the collector.

This item is a cross between a toy and a collecters item. The pics. online dont show the detailed scars on the back of vaders head. The capes are made from fabric, not plastic. Inside the meditation chamber, there are stickers but , thankfully, you dont have to put them all on. Darth vader himself is very accurate, but i havent changed his hands for fear of breaking him. It is a little pricely though. i would have expected to pay about $10. Pssst- the crane that puts his helmet on can rotate 360 degrees! Overall this diorama/figure will serve whatever purpose you choose for it well.

This is a must have for a true SW fan. Vader in his meditation chamber as portrayed in the movie is awesome. This was our first glimpse as to whether or not he was human. From then on it brought so much more to light in the Star Wars universe. I love the toy. Not something you play with, but something that sits among other vader collectibles.
