Biography

Where my girls at?

They're baaaack!

Platinum selling 702 rocks the mic once again on a shooting STAR. The heavenly body trio is back on the scene with their third effort.

Back in 1999, 702 quickly distinguished themselves from the rest of the femme pack. For over 6 months, their platinum single "Where My Girls At" was one of the most heard songs in the country, reaching over 100 million radio… Read more in Amazon's 702 Store

This is one of their best work yet to date. This is one of the best female group top 2 RnB cds of 2003. It was a while before they have came out but that absence did help and made them stronger. On this album they brought it and they gave it their all. Go head ya'll. 702 is the best female group of all time. If they had better promotion then they would the top selling female group of all time. Just get this album. You will enjoy it trust me. Peace out and much love to 702 and keep doing ya'll thang. Much love to Indianapolis. Peace!

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh My!, March 25, 2003
This review is from: Star (Audio CD)
What a difference a bit of time away can make! First of all, Meelah, the lead singer, her voice has changed a little bit. It's a bit on the raspy side which is really sexy when she unleashes it throughout the album. But one would have to listen closely.

And eventhough Missy didn't write a song for the girls at all on this album... they (702) still rise to the occasion. Of course the album is your basic subject matter (girl got my man/ cheating/ partying), but not with basic or typical lyrics. These songs are really well written, examples of this are: "Trouble," "I Still Love You," and a lot more.

The production is crazy. The Neptunes produced two way above average tracks, and the rest of the album is filled with system rattling, thunderous drumbeats and basslines. And the harmonizing, vocal arrangements and melodies are making me drool (excuse me) at this very moment. With very sweet and airy vocals that float and linger in you eardrums, the actual voices of the three ladies is the definite highlite of the whole entire album. Other than that every single track on the album is an 8 or up, no dissappointing tracks here.

Best tracks (to me) are:
1. Let Your Hair Down (offbeat in a good way)
3. Trouble (a soft song that climaxes at the end, best track on the album)
4. Feelings (80s early Hip Hop with sugary vocals)
6. I Still Love You (this track flows like a friggin' river)
8. Certified (male bashing at it's very best)
9. Places (extremely sexy song)
10. Stringing Me Along (the lyrics are the highlight of this song as well as everything else)
14. Better Day (Ghetto Girl) (inspirational)
16. I'm Wit It (an "I don't care about your money" song that is very well done)

Basically, the 702 girls are back with a vengeance and no matter who else puts out an R&B record this year, this album is INSTANTLY in the top 3 R&B albums of 2003.

5.0 out of 5 stars IT'S JUST TOO BAD, April 27, 2003
This review is from: Star (Audio CD)
I say that it's too bad because this CD wasn't properly promoted like it should have been. If I weren't already a fan I would have never known that they came back out. But this CD is TOO RAW yall. No lie. And it's sad that because of the poor sales of this CD that 702 has broken up again permanently. If this album was promoted like it should have been it would have sold really WELL. I can listen to the whole CD with out any complaints or skipping any songs. I love the songs "I still love u", "stringing me along", "feelings" and of course "ghetto girl" just to name a few.

Today many people complain about CD's from R&B groups that have no real depth, vocal skill, or good beats that aren't "Bubblegum". But this CD gives me real songs and material that I love. I hope that more people catch on to this wonderful CD even though the potential careers of 702 are now over. Like I said TOO BAD, this album is a diamond in the ruff in a desert of mediocre R&B groups and singers.
