About the Author

Born in 1979, C.C. Ekeke has been a fan of the science fiction and fantasy genres as long as he can remember. The idea for the Star Brigade has been cooking in his head for years, but he never once considered turning it into a novel. Throughout his childhood and teenage years he focused on sketching his ideas on paper and had dreams of becoming a comic book artist. It was only after skimming through his many sketches during his sophomore year of college that C.C. knew he had to write all his ideas down.

Star Brigade: First Renaissance is an ode to C.C. Ekeke's lifelong love for science fiction. It is also his way of writing the type of sci-fi novel that he himself would want to read. This story not only introduces the reader to new planets, exotic alien beings and strange creatures, but also brings to life three-dimensional characters that break through any preset sci-fi stereotypes.

More About the Author

C.C. Ekeke spent much of his childhood on a steady diet of science fiction movies, television shows and superhero comic books. He discovered his desire to write books in college when studying for a degree in advertising. An international trip or two provided further inspiration for the aliens and worlds seen in his writing. STAR BRIGADE: Resurgent, his debut novel, was originally published in December 2005 - this is the enhanced edition relaunched in preparation for the next books in the Star Brigade series.

If you like galactic cops with awesome powers fighting against injustice then this is your kind of book! The author is very detailed oriented but the story is filled with lots of visualization (great for a reader like me who sees the words on page as a movie in my head). The book is fairly long but moves along. Get ready for amazing battles and intrigue when you buy this novel!

By the year 2403, Terra Firma or Earth, the original home planet of human beings, is gone...destroyed by the actions of a tiny terrorist cell, whose members came from an telepathic alien race, the Korvenites, but their extreme views and actions are unrepresentative of the overwhelming majority of the Korvenite species. The Korvenites were not alien to Terra Sollus, humanity's new "home" and seat of the Galactic Union of Planetary Republics, an alliance of several sentient species, including humans, but excluding the Korvenites, who have been shunted aside and their issues ignored. After the terrorist attack on Earth, all Korvenites were rounded up and shipped to "Internment Protectorates" off of Terra Sollus--for their own safety, of course--faster than you can say Japanese-American Internment Program.

To protect and defend the Galactic Union there are many resources available, but none has proven as able, courageous, well-trained, or unwavering in the performance of their duties as the Star Brigade Special Forces. Unfortunately, the Star Brigade and its specially talented and enhanced Brigadiers are under attack by enemies that transcend the stars and the boundaries of species...politicians and bureaucracies. If the Star Brigade is to survive, they will need their most able Brigadier to return to active service. Sadly, that Brigadier, a human, Habraum Nwosu, hasn't been going through the best of times, either.

Star Brigade: First Renaissance is a debut novel that blends spacefaring science fiction, military action-adventure, high drama, and planetary politics into a lengthy epic. Set in the year 2403, when Earth's inhabitants have become a leading race in the Galactic Union of Planetary Republics that consists hundreds of different sentient species, Star Brigade chronicles the return of a brutal, warlike enemy. The formerly disgraced Star Brigade, led by Captain Nwosu, must overcome memory of past disaster and fight to protect all they hold dear from a ruthless and powerful legion. A complex, exciting, utterly immersive saga from cover to cover.

Star Brigade Resurgent is a re-release of an earlier novel Star Brigade First Renaissance, tweaked and polished and is ready to launch the series into a more friendly marketplace for self published and low volume releases, the reading audience as we all know is much more friendly to the independent author in any genre. As for the story itself it's pretty complex to begin with, it took me a while to put all the players and situations into their proper places and to figure out the "universe" these characters were living in. To be honest my allegiance and sympathy were swinging all over the place for the first few chapters and it wasn't until the introduction of one young person that the foundation of the story in my eyes was complete and we were ready to go. A high point of the novel was the view that when dealing with the far future the technology and abilities of both humans and a myriad of other races are going to be out of this world and here we do see extreme science fiction, no adding a few years speculated tech growth to what we have now but a total flight of the imagination combined with varied yet realistic characters.
C. C. Ekeke also wrote a central character who was broken and was keeping it together purely for the sake of his young son yet as the novel went on we see the man he was before the events in the novel and that strength, courage and integrity is the basis for the core of the Star Brigade and every member of the unit, we can cheer for them without forsaking the simple premise forgotten by the major powers in the galaxy, some things are just wrong and need to be resolved.
A solid standalone scifi military adventure with the promise of more to come, recommended.

This story is the essence of a super hero comic book brought to life in a full length novel. The characters become fully developed and personalized to a depth not possible in comic books. And, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I highly recommend the book to all science fiction fans.
