5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Real Time Strategy Game where You Manage a Starship October 25, 2013
By Brook
Verified Purchase
This Real Time Strategy game was nicely balanced with a good level of depth--deep enough to be interesting, not too deep to manage on a portable device where you pick it up and put it down. I took around 4.5 hours play through the story the first time on 'normal' difficulty, but I didn't visit every destination available. There is replay value due to different difficulty settings and alternate outcomes for player choices. The developer hosts an online forum, the game has been updated at least once, and there are indications that more content is coming. Overall, an excellent value for $2.99

In this game you manage a starship by choosing rooms, upgrading rooms, hiring crew and assigning crew to tasks. There are three types of rooms--tactical, engineering and science. Each room performs different tasks--lasers, photon torpedoes, shields, dodge, make robots etc... Room upgrades give various bonuses--lasers do more damage, engineering crew repair things faster, scientific crew get more hit points, etc... After hiring crew, you assign them to a room. While in the room crew enable the room to function. For example, you need at least one crew member in the laser room for the lasers to power-up so you can fire them when fully charged. Crew can perform additional tasks based upon room assignment: 1) Tactical crew can shoot enemy boarders, 2) Engineering crew can repair damage to the ship & 3) Science crew heal injured crew.

Most of the game is spent fighting other starships. You balance crew between staying in their room so the ship functions optimally and sending them out to attack enemy boarders. You monitor weapons (e.g., lasers) and defensive ship abilities (e.g., dodge) waiting for them to fully charge.

3.0 out of 5 stars Game play pace WAY too slow for my taste. January 30, 2014
Verified Purchase
I love a good strategy game but sitting around waiting and waiting for a weapons "charge" with nothing else going on is juat not my cup of tea. Thus, 3 stars because some may love "camping games" where your main challenge is your patience, but I just cannot take a game that plays at a snails pace to such an extreme degree. It's maddening to me.

TESTED CLEAN! NO ADWARE, ETC. you can download with confidence if you have privacy concerns like I do. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the game you're looking for... October 9, 2013
Verified Purchase
I've played a couple decent games, but they're all the same and and for in-game purchasing; which I absolutely hate. This is the answer. A little bit like faster than light, but far more detailed and with plenty of reasons to replay. In a nut-shell this was a kick-starter and highly anticipated, and I'd like to thank amazon for fulfilling my request and picking it up.
Thanks Amazon.
Steve.

4.0 out of 5 stars good, but battles take FOREVER October 19, 2013

this game is one of the best. cool idea, story line, and decent controls. made for the kindle fire.sadly, killing Antorians takes like 8 min. to destroy one ship. ONE ship. this makes it a bit boring, but still fun most of the time. 4 and a half stars....

2.0 out of 5 stars Constantly freezes on Fire HDX 8.9" December 24, 2013
Verified Purchase
The game concept is decent and pretty fun but it was freezing the game about every 15 minutes for me. I got tired of having to do a hard shut down and restart every time it froze so I deleted the app after owning only 3 or 4 days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great 'Ship&Crew' strategy game October 18, 2013
Verified Purchase
Imagine an awesome Ship-sim like FTL but with more detailed missions and crew control and an isometric view.
So far it doesn't seem nearly as Rogue-like as I would have preferred (as FTL most certainly is), but this game is definitely one of the best games available on Kindle Fire.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's great when it doesn't freeze my Kindle! December 30, 2013
Verified Purchase
I heard about this game for a long time and I was excited to find out that it was available for Kindle! The only problem is every 10-15 minutes the game freezes and I have to restart. The game only autosaves after a battle so if I don't continuously save my progress I have to replay a lot of it.

The game itself is fun and easy to play. I just wish that it didn't constantly freeze. I don't know if it's a problem with my download or the Kindle HDX isn't entirely compatible, but it ruins the great experience I have when I play it.

I would defintely recommend you give this game a try, but be warned that it may freeze on you!

You need patience. This Game was promised to be better but did not do at least 88 percent of what they said. Even still played it through every difficulty and had a fun time. Read more
