5.0 out of 5 stars Next to 16 candles, the greatist teenage thril ride ever!
Now believe me common citizens, when a movie comes along socaptivating and so "real", it makes you wonder, how those big fat cat hollywood writters can sleep with the ideas in their head. This film, stud hunted or hunter (there is a piece of masking tape over the copy i got over the mail)is probably the next great american masterpiece since baywatch nights...

3.0 out of 5 stars Bad acting, but watchable.
Star Hunter is a low budget sci fi effort that is watchable, but can easily get on your nerves. The teen age actors bicker back and forth non stop, and none of them are likeable, except maybe the dope head. If the killer robot creature in this looks familiar, that's because you probably saw him in He Man and THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE movie. He was the villain SAUROD...

Now believe me common citizens, when a movie comes along socaptivating and so "real", it makes you wonder, how those big fat cat hollywood writters can sleep with the ideas in their head. This film, stud hunted or hunter (there is a piece of masking tape over the copy i got over the mail)is probably the next great american masterpiece since baywatch nights! roderick mcdowell is convincing as the blind-villian that lives in the open-doored community of Westwood, with a gun rack on his wall. But the thing that shines about this movie is the 4 teenage actors who are overly convincing as the teenagers. Most of all, the characters interact with the bad guy, before they get chased by his evil robot, and they didnt even know it HAHA, why can't other movies put this plot twist in their films? I don't know, but anyway, go buy this movie, its a classic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Get off your *** and rent this movie! You're wasting keylars, October 17, 1999

As President of the Screen Actor's Guild, I must say I am dissapointed with many individuals inability to look past literality and find the underlying philosophy that fuels the success and cult phenomenon of this film. When Roddy McDowall appears on the Star Hunter's device and informs him when he kills someone, I am reminded of our former Presdent Dwight Eisenhower's farewell address when he left the office of President. The Star Hunter itself is a representation of beurecracy in today's America. Watch out or the Star Hunters (Senators) will get you! You're wasting keylars; go rent this fine film. Just so you know, I nominated the film's Carol O'Conner-like actor who played the disgruntled policeman.

He was the villain SAUROD. They simply recycled the costume! But that's okay cause it's the best part of this movie. This movie opens with borrowed footage of space ships from a Roger Corman movie FORBIDDEN WORLD. And knowing Roger Corman, it could have been borrowed in that film as well. The story isn't a bad idea in this, it's simply badly executed. All the "Hunting" takes place in an urban setting, and the alleys and buildings all look the same, and I grew tired seeing nothing but bricks, and stairs. Someone must have called in a favor to get Roddy Mcdowell to appear in this, but sadly his presence did'nt help alot. His soft spoken voice, simply did not seem threatening at all. Eventually they added a monster voice over his. All in all this movie is okay, if you you're into sci fi, and low budget, but It's no one's cult classic. Oh, and there is a brief, and I mean very brief boob shot, if that helps sell the deal.

1.0 out of 5 stars WORST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN, April 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Star Hunter [VHS] (VHS Tape)
THIS MOVIE IS SO BAD ITS FUNNY!!!! Fillled with many errors (Including osme reused stock footage, (godawful) battle scenes that take no more then 5 minutes but span over night and day as day turns to night as the camera switches views) TERRIBLE ACTING tops it all off, with FAKE weapons (cap guns) RENT IT FOR THE LAUGHS. Also, watch the bus driver's hat. it has an emblem on it (a "S" i think) and at different times in the movie the "S" dissappears and reappears..

I have watched this movie and find it excellent! Roddy McDowall looks cool with sunglasses on but I would rather see his big brown eyes! He plays his part very well!
