Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

This story encourages readers to find their calling and to live a fulfilling and happy life.A dot eventually discovers his purpose in the best ending ever! The Star Pupil is playful yet profound and promises to be a story you will never forget.

From the Author

This tale speaks to anyone searching to find their own special place in the world. Combining the themes in OH!The Places You'll Go and The Little Prince, it incorporates enriched vocabulary and idiomatic phrasing, and much 'food-for-thought'.The idea got started in 1999 when my sons had both graduated from their respective colleges-Northwestern and Harvard. At that time they were both 'highly-educated' and 'under-employed',so I knew it was time to write a book about going out into the world to find one's passion.

More About the Author

Carole Hamburger is a veteran Philadelphia teacher who is passionate about writing books that Entertain, Motivate, and Enlighten. Her whimsical tales about The Dot Family are truly for All Ages because they deal with LIFE. The Star Pupil is about pursuing your passions. The Zippity-Do-Dot (The Star Pupil's renegade sister) is about pro-actively making your dreams come true. Another 'dot-child' is expected in early 2010! This newest little boy will have many obstacles and challenges to overcome...unlike his highly accomplished siblings who easily 'made the grade'. Because Carole writes with extensive enriched vocabulary and idiomatic phrasing, her tales have been embraced by educators, home-schoolers, and the general public. Wearing the many 'hats' of author/illustrator/educator/motivator, Carole speaks on topics related to writing, literacy, and motivation. She is truly living her childhood dream, and inspires countless others to pursue their passions and follow their dreams. Her books flow like animated movies (all in rhyme!!), and her next personal quest is to have her tales turned into JUST THAT. She is easy to reach through her website (www.CaroleHamburger.com)should you want to contact her to discuss speaking-appearances and or her 'movie' ideas.

Well, what can I say! i just read "The Star Pupil" at the behest of my 6 year old grandson who insisted that I would like the book.Yes, I agreed to read it (in order to discuss the story with him)not realizing that this is a book for Adults(as well).
After reading the "The Star Pupil" It was apparent that the genius in its characters is actually a blueprint for making choices and that all choices lead to the inevitably correct conclusion.
You as a reader will agree that this book is brilliant, captivating and most importantly, a keen lesson for living life.
Recommended for children from 2 to 92...5 star Do not leave this world without reading "The Star Pupil"

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a children's book, August 20, 2010
My children didn't really understand the message of the book. The pictures looked like I did it and the story is far too wordy for a child to read. Not sure who the target audience is supposed to be.
