Product Description

From technology proven in the aerospace industry comes a paint protection system guaranteed to protect your car's finish for up to 5 years and keep it incredibly clean. 5 Star Shine's unique PPS technology took over a decade to develop and patent. In fact, 5 Star Shine's PPS formula is the only paint protection system ever awarded a U.S. patent and tested to survive over 150 washings! It's even used by the US Navy! 5 Star Shine is not a wax nor can it be compared to waxes. Waxes offer no long term protection for your car because they break down quickly when exposed to the sun's harsh UV Rays. Waxes also get sticky in the hot sun and actually attract and hold dust and dirt next to your paint which is why freshly waxed cars seem to get dirty so quickly. 5 Star Shine can only be compared to the expensive paint protection systems offered by new car dealers because that is our primary market. Our patented formula is sold under another name in many dealerships all across the world at anywhere from $500 to $1500 depending on the dealer. Since we can't control how much dealers charge for our product, the 5 Star Shine brand was created to provide the D.I.Y. (do it yourself) market the exact same 5 year paint protection system at a fraction of the cost. 5 Star Shine is the only product guaranteed to protect your car's paint for up to 5 years and keep it incredibly clean.

I applied this to my 2006 Sebring and 2009 CTS. In my experience the product lasts about a year. I think preparation is key. The initial results are similar to a dealer applied sealant, regarding shine and soil repellency. Unfortunately the "you will Never wax again" claim is not true, and having it last 5 years is a stretch, in my experience anyway. We have a black 2003 Cadillac with a $1000+ GM applied paint sealant package that is still working 7 years later, so some products do work as claimed. To be fair, the 5 Star company suggests weekly rinsing and an annual application of "PPS cleaner" to maintain the coating, but this is revealed at the end of the enclosed directions.

The customers who rated this item poorly must be affiliated with another auto polish company. This product works better than dealership quality sealants such as "perma-plate" Five years later and still going strong. Does last longer on new vehicles.

I bought this product almost five years ago and applied it to my then brand new Honda Accord. It's true that the "bead" does not last for five years, but the shine does. After nearly five years, and without having a garage (!) I am happy to say that the paint still looks terrific and has never seen any wax since the first application of 5-Star Shine. At the same time (4.5 year's ago) I applied the product to a 1998 Honda Prelude. It made a huge difference then and this car is now 10 years old and also looking great!!! So, I just bought another new car and I am back for more 5-Star Shine.

I read the reviews, whatever. I live in Hawaii and the weather here is brutal on any car, truck or suv. I have applied waxes, sealants, compounds on multiple cars over the years and its not like I don't know how to use elbow grease when I need to. I decided to give this product a shot on my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500, dark blue. I admit it was tough work to apply and it took me the good part of the day to do it, from morning to early afternoon. I followed the instructions and applied it like it said. Well, testimony is this, when I drive in to work, I get comments like, hey, you need to wash your truck, but those are sarcastic remarks because when they get up close they realize that I did NOT wash my truck yet but it shines like crazy! Yes, you do need to do maintenance on it, yearly. I care for my cars/trucks and I do tend to apply some light detailing spray because I love the slippery feel it gives on the finish but my truck has NOT lost its luster at all! In fact, the only reason I am here again and writing this review is because I wanted to buy another set to re-apply on Dodge, it has been 4 years since I did it. I dont think I really need to do it yet but I just wanted to get a set so I would have it on hand when I decide to do it. This product works, it won't work if you decide to NOT do anything at all but I think you're just asking for it then. It is not expensive in comparison to a thousand dollar sealant job but I would expect something like that to last forever, THIS is under a 100 bucks, c'mon! 4 stars not 5 because I have to do the work on my truck myself!

I have used this product on 2 different cadillacs. In both cases, people were regually noticing how good the cars looked, very shiny and clean! Right up to the end of owning the cars, I would be asked if I had just waxed it.

Cars do stay cleaner looking and are very easy to wash.

In both cases, the cars were certified used and had very good detailed paint jobs. I had one of the cars for 3 years and the other car for 4 years. I applied the system soon after I purchased each of the cars. I do keep cars in the garage when they are not in use.

After either 3 or 4 years [depending on the car] water would still bead up on the paint when I washed the car.

I did not have any after purchase interactions with the company. I can not comment on customer service. I bought the wax the first time from 5 Star and received it quickly. I bought it the second time through Amazon.

Verified Purchase
In 2010 I inherited a 2000 Toyota Camry with only 24,000 miles on it but the Florida sun baked out the entire paint job. I had a young functional car with an old beat up look. The car was repainted by Maaco and was asked if they would approve an application of 5 Star Shine after the 30 day paint cure. I was informed that 5 Star Shine would not void my paint warrantee so following all the directions, I applied the product to the Toyota. The results are stunning. Bird droppings fly off the paint job without taking root as they would normally. Just like the product advertises, all you need is water and a wipe down and your car is dirt free again. I’m sold. I purchased two more kits for our other two vehicles. Once 5 Star Shine is properly applied, NOTHING works better.

Took a shot on this product in May 2005 when I used it on my 2002 Mercedes. I liked the part about the US Navy using this stuff on their super-structure antennas. Well,I have not been disappointed. My car still looks great today. Some say "new". I have just applied this product again in Sept 2010 as I have noticed the finish has become less slick and that road tar had begun sticking to the car. For the first several years I washed my car without soap, and road dirt and tar were easily removed. Over the last year I started using car wash detergent. Water was still beading on the hood, but I decided to go ahead and reapply...using the sticking tar criteria.

Note my car has been garage-kept in Virgina and Wisconsin and that I did not run it thru power car washes until last winter. Had been doing hand washing up to that point. Your experience will depend on weather exposure and car washing. But in any case, this lasts a heck of a lot longer than any wax/polish/sealant product I have tried.

I plan on using this product on all my cars and regularly recommend it to DIY friends.
