About the Author
On September 14, 1814,
Francis Scott Key peered through clearing smoke to see an enormous American flag flying proudly after a 25-hour British bombardment of Baltimore's Fort McHenry. Key was inspired to write a poem, which was later set to music and became our national anthem.
Nancy Munger uses colored pencils and watercolors to create her bright and engaging illustrations. She has illustrated over 40 children's books, and she is a recipient of the CBA Gold Medallion Book Award.
