Book Description

Live Long and Cross-Stitch!

Ever wondered what Spock would look like on a baby’s onesie? Well, now you can see, in this fun collection of thirty cross-stitch projects made with love by Star Trek fans. If you’re looking for ideas for putting your favorite character on a tote bag or pillow—or perhaps hanging a lovely framed “Qo’noS Sweet Qo’noS” in the entryway to let everyone know that a Klingon-speaker lives here—then look no farther. Whether you’re a lifelong Trekkie or just a Starfleet cadet, you can show your Star Trek pride by decorating your home, your clothes, and your children with cross-stitched Star Trek quotes and iconic images.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best of Both Worlds June 1, 2013
By Kim L.
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
As an avid cross-stitcher and a fan of Star Trek (not quite a die-hard Trekkie), I couldn't wait to receive this book, and I wasn't disappointed. Most of the patterns are not complicated - there is no backstitching and there are no half-stitches. For the beginner there is an instruction page, however, there are no diagrams, which would be more helpful to one just starting out. The great thing about the designs is that they can be stitched onto a variety of items: hand towels, pillows, tote bags, bookmarks, etc., so one can make a nice handmade gift for the Trekkie in their life. Personally, I'm looking forward to stitching the Tribbles design onto a t-shirt!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great patterns, wife loves it. June 25, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
My wife ordered this product because she's a huge Star Trek fan and enjoys doing Cross Stitches in her spare time. She was immediately taken by the patterns inside, from the elaborate (like a white-on-black portrait of Picard with the phrase "make it so") to the cute and childish like small versions of the crew. She's already made several of the patterns and gave one as a gift. The recipient was equally pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stitch me up, Scotty June 17, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
After hearing this book had been published I purchased it immediately. I'm a huge fan of Star Trek and I love cross stitch. I was really surprised by how appealing the way this book was put together. This book is fun to just flip through and read the quotes or look at the images of the characters. It was all really well formatted, from the fonts used to the spacey background images. That alone would make a this a great book for a Star Trek fan who has never tried cross stitch. The patterns themselves are easy to follow and I think there are lots of good tips added in for new cross stitchers, such as ways to have a neater backside of the piece or how to use waste canvas. I like the broad range of projects too, and that they don't focus on one particular series of Star Trek. The border around "He's dead, Jim," cracked me up once I looked at it more closely. I also love the suggestion of using the Padd pattern as a tablet cover. My favorite part of this book were the samplers at the end and all the mix and match pieces it provided for someone to create their own sampler. What a great idea! This book does a great job at suggesting ideas for how to use the patterns, but the create your own sampler part takes it to a new level. The only downside to this book is I can't decide which pattern I want to try first!

5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT BOOK!!! June 10, 2013
Format:Paperback
This is such an awesome book! Some of the patterns are truly phenomenal! The one of Captain Pickard is amazing. I can't wait to make it. There's also a great pattern for Spock and Captain Kirk. This author has stellar designs and backs it up with Trek lore. This book also makes a great gift!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super! July 3, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book does what I thought was impossible - it combines my two loves (cross stitch and Star Trek) in one wonderful book. My only problem was deciding what I wanted to stitch first!
Highly recommended to anyone who loves Star Trek and cross stitch.

4.0 out of 5 stars Trek fans gotta have it June 28, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Delightful book, lots of great ideas. Good book for beginners. The samplers are the best, gives lettering in the Trek or Klingon fonts. Plenty of ideas for doing your own thing. Fun book to flip through, covers are also handy bookmarks. I'm at an intermediate level at cross-stitch, I would have liked a more elaborate "Enterprise" to stitch. I'd bet there will be a Book 2 in the future that might cover that. Great pop culture book. I'm going to combine some designs from this book with some from my Christmas books, the possibilities are infinite.
