5.0 out of 5 stars Definitive is right
This is a great trivia book for Star Trek. It has trivia on all kinds of subjects, such as Vulcans, Borg, episode names, and every major crew member. I thought I knew a lot about Star Trek, but after I started reading through this book I found out how much I didn't know. Here is an example: "In 'Tapestry,' Picard relived a time in his youth with two of his best...

1.0 out of 5 stars STARSHIP SECTION MESSED UP
Being that I am currently in the process of writing a book detailing the history of Federation starships, I was apalled when I noticed that most of the registry numbers and classes for the ships were WRONG. My friend and I picked up a copy of this book in our local bookstore and were flipping through it, and we were laughing out loud when we noticed the mistakes.

If...

This is a great trivia book for Star Trek. It has trivia on all kinds of subjects, such as Vulcans, Borg, episode names, and every major crew member. I thought I knew a lot about Star Trek, but after I started reading through this book I found out how much I didn't know. Here is an example: "In 'Tapestry,' Picard relived a time in his youth with two of his best friends from the academy. Name the friends." Another question is: "What substance was Elaan's necklace composed of?" Whoever knows these and the other questions in the book is a professional Star Trek fan. If you want to have fun with your Star Trek knowledge by all means buy this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Trivia Book., December 2, 2000
By A Customer
I bought this book at my local Waldenbooks store a while back. On the way home, I was flipping through it and found all the good stuff. Overall, the book is a must-have for any Star Trek fan out there. The only problem I found with the book was that there were a few errors. I only found two and they are relatively minor. For instance, on page 165, for the Match the Ship with its Registry Section, Voyager's Registry is actually NCC-74656 not NCC-1647. Also on the same page, the USS Enterprise E is a Soverign class not Excelsior. Again, these are fairly minor problems. Nothing to get too bent out of shape about, but they are something to watch for.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Definitive Star Trek Trivia Book Volume II, June 6, 2002
By
This review is from: The Star Trek: The Definitive Star Trek Trivia Book: Volume II (Paperback)
The Definitive Star Trek Trivia Book Volume II by Jill Sherwin is a real jewel. The book is divided into 10 chapters and has information on TOS, ST:TNG, DS-9, Voyager, The Films, New Life and New Civilizations, Starfleet, Personnel Files, Abstract Knowledge and of course Number Ten is the Answer section.

So, if you are into TREK, this is the book that will answer some or most of your questions about these areas within the TREK Universe. I found that reading and answering the questions further increased my knowledge about these TREK areas. And if you need to settle a dispute... you've got the answer book to help you.

As the Trek Universe expands, I look forward to more of these compendia to be published. The book is set up well and is extremely well thought out.

This is an excellent addition to your Trek library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Part 2 of a Great Trivia Series, April 5, 2001
This review is from: The Star Trek: The Definitive Star Trek Trivia Book: Volume II (Paperback)
Of all the new trivia books this one is a keeper because it's interesting from start to finish. No boring questions about the amount of pips on Data's collar. To test your true knowledge of all the Trek series; the writer utilizes resonable material from good episodes. There are no obscure references. I found it entertaining and insightful on the details I didn't notice at first.

This review is from: The Star Trek: The Definitive Star Trek Trivia Book: Volume II (Paperback)
I don't know why the reviewer below gave the whole book a bad review because one quiz had the answer key messed up! The rest of the book is right on!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Must for Trekkers, January 31, 2001
By
Clay White (Goodlettsville, TN United States) - See all my reviews
I bought this book as a Christmas present for my wife. We are always quizzing each other on Star Trek and other trivia. After thumbing through a few sections, I found the questions extremely challenging, but compelling enough to capture the interest of even a Star Trek trivia novice. The questions are compiled and organized quite well, and the cover art is attractive and begs for prominent display. If you think you're an expert at Star Trek trivia, buying this book and testing your knowledge with the detailed questions will prove it - one way or the other.

4.0 out of 5 stars See how much you know, May 11, 2000
This is a good trivia book. It contains hundreds of questions. The questions are divided into the categories. So you can find the subject you are interested easily. But although the book contains hundreds of questions, I think there should be more. And some questions are too easy or predictable for experience trekkies. Nevertheless this is good trivia book. And a must have for trekkies.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Definitive STAR TREK Trivia Book Part I, November 21, 2002
By
The Definitive STAR TREK Trivia Book Part I written by Jill Sherwin is a very good trivia book except for the registry numbers on the appropriate ships, but that's a proof reader's error not the author's. Anyway, this is a volume you will want in your TREK library as it has many interesting questions and answers.

That being said, all you need to do is place an addendum in the book and you'll have a very worthy addition to your TREK Library. Oh, the erratum is the Excelsior registry number... a minor error.

The book is divided into ten sections and each section covers a genre of the Star Trek Universe.

Section One Star Trek: The Original Series
Section Two Star Trek: The Next Generation
Section Three Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Section Four Star Trek: Voyager
Section Five Star Trek: The Films
Section Six New Life and New Civilizations
Section Seven Starfleet
Section Eight Personnel Files
Section Nine Abstract Knowledge
Section Ten Answers

I found that I liked this volume for its originality and the questions that are asked are of import. Especially, if you want to check up on a character of film or book. Maybe it's just me, but I like to dig a little farther into the trek genre and get a full range into the story. Sometimes author's assume you know everything about Star Trek, but if your like me you know enough just to be dangerous. This book will help fill in the gaps of your knowledge.

The book is fun and very enjoyable. You'll get a good dose of TREK trivia reading this volume. I hope you'll enjoy this book as much as I did. Reading this book will accelerate your knowleadge of TREK to warp speed... the number of warp speed depends on your previous knowledge, but my estimation would be around 9.0 and if you get volume II you should be cruising at 9.9 and the tachyons are flowing for the trans-warp breakthrough.
