4.0 out of 5 stars This is the best Star Trek book ever.
I've read all the Star Trek movie books, and "Insurrection" is the one I like the best. The description of the Ba'ku and S'ona homeworld is breathtaking, and the action scenes are well described. Of all, I rate this book very highly and recommend it to everyone I can get my hands on.

1.0 out of 5 stars Over-rated and dull
The Star Trek books are about in the same shape as the movies are. Poor plots and off characterization is the name of the game here. This autio tape and the film it's based on, brought the series to a new low creative wise and Trek has still shown no signs of visable recovery.

(REAL NAME)
As usual, J.M. Dillard takes a passable Star Trek movie and makes it into an excellent book. The story here makes more sense than the original did, in spite of remaining very true to the original material. Dillard manages to improve the story by adding explanatory detail rather than making changes or deleting dubious scenes; she is a real master at this skill. I really wish that they'd turn her loose on some of the original series episodes a la James Blish; she could make excellent stories out of some of those rather slipshod episodes.
