The book starts quite boring, but when once you've reached chapter 2-3 it starts to get quite good,

This book has sceens in it that were not in the cinema release version, ie in the library with Riker & Troi, getting thrown out of the library.

I'd like to say, that this book makes the film.

Yes I admit it I didn't quite like the cinema version but the book, well It's very good

J.M. Dillard has with, Star Trek: Insurrection done another great job of novelizing a movie! I always approach novelization's with a little skepticism as far as what's put on page between the scenes on screen. That said, I don't really do that with her work. She captures the spirit of the film perfectly and put's some really good scenes in that we don't see on film. Thank you to the author for another great novelization!

Well, she's done it again. J.M. Dillard has written another brilliant novelisation, and she really dserves credit for it. The characters were portrayed very well, and she kept to the script for the most part, adding in her own parts about the characters, Anjj, the So'na, and Worf. Although her version of the story deviated somewhat from the movie version, this is probably due to the fact she was working with an earlier script, but it didn't change the book much. Personally, I really liked it, but one part in particular was the part involving Worf. In the movie he didn't play a very big role, just normal Worf with the exception of his .... physical troubles. But in the book Dillard wrote about Worf dreaming, and encountering K'Ehleyer, his former lover. I felt this was one of best insights into his character, with his old flame inslting his relationships after(Deanna Troi, Jadzia Dax). Anyway, I really liked that. The relationship between Riker & Deanna was done very well in film and novel, the novel simply putting thoughts beind their feelings, which I thought was good. Anyway, that's my opinion. On one last note, is anyone else slightly concerned TNG movies haven't found a 'focus' yet. I mean, TOS movies had a focus around Mr. Spock's death and return, but TNG has had none of this. I am deeply concerned about this, if anyone else is feel free to email me.

The premise would make a fine end of season two parter , but a blockbuster movie I think not! A respected star-fleet captain goes renegade to protect a veritable Garden of Eden /Fountain of youth planet from exploitation from both the Federation and outside forces. Woahh! Excuse me didn't William Shatner already do this plot-line in his first Star Trek Novel: 'The Ashes of Eden'? Check it out; yes he did! And better too I might add. Lets stop beating around the bush First A Star Trek : Voyager: ; 'Mortal Coil' episode and now Star Trek 9 - Insurrection, pinching ideas and plotlines from the man who portrayed third Captain of the USS Enterprise. Anybody with half a 'Trek' brain can see it. In Voyager: The episode 'Mortal Coil' Neelix is revived from the dead by Borg nanite technology. A contrivance of William Shatner's to revive Captain Kirk in his book: 'The Return'. from his demise in the 7th Trek movie Generations. If they have any sense they'll adapt one of Kirk's books for the tenth film or do a crossover with some of the original Enterprise crew doing cameos.

I think this is the best Star Trek book and movie there will be and my reason is: I grew up in the 80's and I have really inspired the great job of acomplishments of this fine crew! my parents who grew up in the 50s and 60s liked the Orginal Series. my opinion is, its ok but I didnt grow up in that time so thats why i like the next generation. i rarely watch DS9 and very rare I watch voyager. Im sure Gene Roddenberry would be very proud of Rick Berman on what he has done since he has passed away nearly 9 years ago.

What a book! I didn't see the movie before I read this and it kept me reading on never stopping for a break.

I have to disagree with another review I just read here. The review makes many comments about how much Insurrection is like other Star Trek episodes. I disagree. Insurrection is an excellent book which, for the first time in Star Trek movie history, focuses on the people rather than the technology. It really allows you to get a very personal view of a side that we've never seen in some of the characters. For any Trek lover, it is a must.

i love audiobooks.especially those that take me to another realm.insurrection gets regular rotation in my c.d. player. when i go to sleep i light some incense,put on the audiobook and.voila!..instant calm.

i would like to buy more of these. :)

Awesome book, can't wait to see the movie. Lots of action

This book had great potential. The movie had a character oriented enough story that MS. Dillard could have given us something in the way of a back story, or some character development, except in the very beginning. She is going downhill. She did an excellent job with Star Trek 5 and 6. Those were very good books, better than average for star trek books, and not bad even for regular books. Then with Generations and First contact, she still did an ok job, but they were short and had large print. In this one it is lacking development to the point of deficiency, and where are the color photos from the movie. Also, the best part of the previous two STTNG movie novelizations was the behind the scenes at the end. Where did that go. Not only is this book more expensive, but it also lacks that whichj made the others readable. By the way this book is 284 not 385 pages.
