Gold Key Classic Retro Trek,
By picardfan007 (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Star Trek: The Key Collection, Vol. 2 (Paperback)
When Trek historians look at these comics, they will probably say the Gold Key comics kept a few kids dreams of Trek alive until the first film. While not the best written comics, the title did feature some outstanding art. It didn't always capture the classic characters, however the spirit of the show was always there for young readers. If you grew up in the 1970's, you'll remember these classic comics. A lot of them were reprints of past issues. My guess is that the artist or writer did not make the deadlines so a reprint was issued in some months.
I have used the art in this series as a reference for drawing the classic cast when I was a youngster. The poses do reflect a lot of the action that took place in the original series plots. Wolverine creator Len Wein even wrote a few of these classics. Too bad the credits were never printed in the Marvel style. I might have picked up a few more issues if I was aware the original comics were authored by Len. This is a collection for anyone who likes the Star Trek series. The plots are not exactly "logical", but they are a lot of fun to read.

great memories of Icees, candy, and 20cent comics,
This review is from: Star Trek: The Key Collection, Vol. 2 (Paperback)
Sure the stories are corny and this has little other than the name to do with "Star Trek", but these were fun to read as a kid and they are still fun now. Great for fans or kids who grew up in the 70's.
