NERO!,
This review is from: Star Trek: Nero (Star Trek (IDW)) (Paperback)
I highly recommend reading Countdown before reading this comic, it does a great job explaining how Nero went from a respectible miner to a genocidal murder, and why he hates Spock so much. This comic essentially covers what Nero was doing in the movie when Kirk was growing up. You may recall the scene from the movie where Kirk is trying to warn Captain Pike that they are going into a trap and Uhura mentions that a Klingon Fleet was destroyed by one massive ships, that scene is in this graphic novel.

A must for any Star Trek fan. Get more background as to what went on between Nero and Spock. Great artwork, decent story (I just wish there was more of it). Quality book. The MSRP is a bit overpriced, but an entertaining, quality product at a decent Amazon price.

A continued expansion of the Star Trek universe,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: St Nero #1 (Paperback)
While the two dominate publishers of American comics continue to be DC and Marvel, several independent comic companies are giving them hefty competition. One of those companies is IDW Publishing who have breathed new and vibrant life into the comic book genre. There are four new IDW titles newly introduced that deserve special attention because of the quality of both the storytelling and the artwork. "Star Trek: Nero #1" is a continued expansion of the Star Trek universe which has been an IDW comic book staple. "Transformers: Tales of the Fallen #1" is still another addition to the growing and increasingly popular Transformer universe. "GrimJack: The Manx Cat #1" is a welcome return to one of the most imaginative British science fiction worlds ever created. "Starstruck #1" is an avante garde comic that is beautifully drawn and complex in its plotting. All four of these new titles are superlative contributions to IDW Publishing's line of science fiction and fantasy. All of them adhere to IDWs usual and impeccable high standards making them enthusiastic recommendations for anyone who enjoys terrific storytelling that is imaginative, coupled with great artwork that is truly memorable.

the new star trek is a joke,
This review is from: Star Trek: Nero #1 (Kindle Edition)
the new star trek is a joke. J.j whats his face has messed up star trek. I hope to god he doesnt have anything to do with the new movie. How can he destroy vulcan? One of the 4 founding members of the UFP. I thought i was going to be sick when i saw the movie. Now thanks to J.J butt face there are two timelines in star trek. For people who dont watch star trek on the regular will be confused to hell. I think that any books or anything to do with the movie is a joke. J.J butt face is not a true trek fan. He did not keep true to star trek at all. Thanks for messing up my favorite sci fi series.
