This item is a beautifully detailed ship replica that will look good on any shelf or desktop, etc...

There is only one weak point with the entire package, so let's deal with that first:

The display stand included is VERY unstable. It consists of a single, crescent piece of plastic that is seated into a base shaped like the iconic starfleet logo. At the apex of the crescent piece is a ball & socket joint with a pin onto which goes the ship model via a hole in the battery cover on the belly of the ship.

The problem is that the stand is very top-heavy with the ship mounted so while you can pivot & tilt the ship on the stand, if you tilt it TOO far, the stand will tip over.

BUT... Art Asylum/Entertainment Earth also added a VERY thoughtful detail: an alternate battery cover.

Whereas the ship mates onto the stand via a hole in the battery cover, if you want to HANG the ship from something (ceiling, office cube, etc...) the alternate battery cover is completely smooth (no hole)! I just think that is extremely clever & considerate.

Overall, the ship is beautifully decorated. The entire hull is painted with a matte gray finish that looks professionally airbrushed. All hull markings, numbering, lettering , etc... are painted on... NO DECALS!

To operate the sound & light features, you press the bridge dome on top of the saucer section. There are 8 different sounds that the ship plays including weapon, engine & transporter sounds as well as a couple lines of Captain Kirk dialogue. The ship's lights also light up while the sound is playing.

Another great feature is the "Lights Only" mode (my term). Press & hold the bridge dome for 5 seconds & all the ship lights operate until the button is pressed again.
