4.0 out of 5 stars No, really, this is the Gorn and not an angry green robot, September 16, 2003

Once you have the big three "Star Trek" Minimates--Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, and Doctor McCoy--then you have to get some of their most famous opponents. Again, there are a trio of "Star Trek" aliens, starting with the Gorn from Episode 19 "Arena." You can also pick up Khan from Episode 24 "Space Seed" and the Mugato from Episode 45 "A Private Little War." Admittedly the last one seems on odd choice for the initial three as opposed to nice little pseud-Lego Klingon, but go figure. The little green guy is 3-inches tall, fully articulated, and comes with accessories, his weapon from the episode, and a base that interlocks with those of other characters. I have to admit that without the snout the Gorn ends up looking more like a green robot wearing a money belt, but you have to appreciate the effort of the people at Art Asylum. Now if we can just get them working on Scotty, Uhura and the rest of the "Enterprise" bridge crew instead of Ozzy Osbourne, things will be back on the right path. These minimates are cute, which can be a good thing, and they take up a lot less room than you standard sized action figures.

4.0 out of 5 stars Minimates were great..., March 1, 2004

AA had a good thing going with the Trek Minimates [which should be very apparent by the sales of the Marvel minimates]. Only problem is that most people did not know what to think of them when they first came out and did not buy them.

But once they got their hands on them they fell in love and wanted more. But by then they were way too hard to locate.

Sales of block style figures [when done right as these were] are still going strong [just check out the ebay sales for kubricks]. If only AA would give us the rest of the TOS crew and some more tiny bad guys to play with.

One of the low points for the Gorn figure is the fact that his lower portion of his costume takes up room on the torso peg making him come apart at the middle very easily...but that is part of the charm with these guys the mix and match ability they have.

The Trek Minimates were larger than the Marvel minimates and would have done better in the smaller size. And perhaps would have done even better in the new C3 design [like the upcoming DC Comics line from AA], which is very lego-like with construction blocks and figures connect to the blocks [build your own stands for those guys].
