An Awesome Calendar!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Star Trek Stardate 2002 Calendar (Paperback)
I purchased the 2001 version of the Star Trek Stardate Calendar, and I love it!!! Every day there is a new picture (except on weekends where Staurday and Sunday anre combined). All the pictures are in full color and are really vibrant. It is worth every penny you pay for it! Actually, this year its much cheaper! If you love Star Trek, you'll love this!

Many good pictures in this page-a-day calendar,

I have bought the Star Trek page-a-day calendars every year for 3 years now, and this one is slightly disappointing. What I immediately noticed was that at least 2 or 3 of the pictures are mirror images! Understandably the publishers wanted the characters to face in the right direction, but it looks quite odd and careless when you see an image of a backwards Janeway (hair parted on the wrong side, communicator on the wrong side, face looking not quite right) standing next to an even more obviously mirror imaged Seven of Nine (the borg eyebrow implant is on the wrong side, most notably.)Aside from these few abnormalities, I was glad to purchase this and it will be on my desk come 2002. I particularly enjoy the fact that birthdays are pointed out, but it seems like the pictures are getting smaller. Some pictures don't even use up half of the page, and the page isn't that big! Overall, however, I would recommend this calendar to any Star Trek fan...well...who wants a page-a-day calendar!

If you purchase the Star Trek Ships of the Line 2001 calendar thinking its a calendar, you will find the dates are difficult to read in small print, and it awkwardly hangs sideways, different from where last years calendar may have hung. However, if you are looking for way to have a different mini-Star Trek poster, with amazing space-scapes, and great graphic detail, then Star Trek Ships of the Line is perfect for you.

A Very Thick Picture Book,

This is a desktop calendar of the tear-off-a-page-everyday variety. Each page indicates the month, the day.... and that's it really. Unfortunately, there are no mini-monthly calendars anywhere, which vastly detracts from the value of this item as a calendar - this means that the user will have to look elsewhere for month-wide references. What you get from this calendar is simply today's date on each page. Special dates include birthdays of famous trek personalities. What is somewhat unusual perhaps is the fact that all the pictures in this calendar are in full colour, which adds tremendously to its collector's value. Perhaps 90%+ of the contents are of Star Trek characters, from all the series - some are portrait/publicity shots, some scenes from the shows (including episode title). Indeed, it is interesting to leaf through the collection, stirring memories (Crusher and Picard strolling through DS9 was a great choice). There are very isolated instances of pictures of ships or places - much less than I would have liked. More variety could have been added - say, pictures of famous props, boiler plates, planets, aliens (where are the aliens?!?!? There are pitifully few), the humorous shipboard signs the TV-viewer cannot read, even ship schematics and console displays or the like. It's also ironic that as a "Stardate" calendar, this calendar doesn't have a single stardate. Why not have stardates for each scene depicted, corresponding to the episodes? But the most unfortunate thing is simply that I probably won't *use* this calendar - because, as I've suggested above, it isn't a great/practical calendar, but is a nice picture book. As such, my copy of the 2002 Stardate Calendar is probably going into long-term storage. From the poor calendar's point of view, I think that's rather sad.

Great, love the pictures and information it gives. I also love how it says what episode the pics are from! This is a great calander. The only thing is Sat and Sun are one pic, not 2. That stinks but I can live with it and this calander is worth it!

I have one major nitpick about the 2002 calendar. All of the pictures are much smaller than those in the 2001 calendar. Although I like the purple emblem in the background, I'd have rather see that space taken with the photos.
