This review is from: Star Trek - Voyager, Episode 46: The Basics, Pt II [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I enjoyed thise episode of Star Trek Voyager and consider it to be a strong beginning for Season Three of the show. This episode, which bears the production number episode 46, was actually shown as the first episode of season three. It is the continuation of the story begun in episode 42 - "Basics Pt I". At the beginning of this episode, Janeway and the Voyager crew are stranded on a remote and dangerous planet after the Kazon take over Voyager in "Basics I". Of course, this episode covers the retaking of Voyager by the Starfleet crew. But also included are final resolutions of the Seska/Chakotay relationship and of the nagging doubts about the paternity of Seska's child. Strong writing and good acting combine to make this an important Voyager episode. I give it 5 stars.

This review is from: Star Trek - Voyager, Episode 46: The Basics, Pt II [VHS] (VHS Tape)
In this 2nd half of Voyager's second two part episode the Voyager has been taken over by the Kazon with the help of Seska. We find Janeway and the crew stranded on a planet that has very primative inhabitants, and a large monster who is the cave dwelling version of the monsters from 'Tremmors'. Tom Paris was able to flee Voyager, just before its boarding, to ask for help from some of Neelix's Talaxian friends! The only members of Voyager's crew who are left on the ship are the EMH and Mr Suder (who had been confined to quarters in 'meld' for killing anotherr crew member). Suder has to struggle with his killing "instinct", wile the rest of the Voyager crew have there own problems on the planet. I won't ruin the ending, but I will have to say its one of the best voyager episodes! I realy like the episodes with Seska and it was cool to see how Janeway and the crew delt with there 'new home'.
