5.0 out of 5 stars Star Wars Adventures
This story takes you back to Luke's training on Dagobah with Yoda. The book stretches out scenes that were in Empire Strikes Back and goes deeper into what all consisted of Luke's training. Well worth your time!

3.0 out of 5 stars Dragonsnakes
Basically this is a Star Wars Tales comic but extended and packaged like a digest and then stamped with a [...] price so you still get a story but not as many as the 5.99 price of a Star Wars Tales comic. Lately this franchise is all about the bucks and story lines are starting to suffer because of it...this is no exception. Takes place during Lukes training with Yoda and...

5.0 out of 5 stars Tom Taylor & Daxiong reveal the making of a Jedi, February 5, 2010

Ever wanted to know the specifics of Luke Skywalker's jedi training on Dagobah with Yoda? Writer Tom Taylor and artist Daxiong obviously did -- because that's the setup for this digest-sized Star Wars tale that is apocryphal to The Emtire Strikes Back.

As with Star Wars: Invasion Volume 1 - Refugees, Tom Taylor does a brilliant job of capturing the voice of these classic characters -- they feel like the same characters from the film.

Taylor draws something of a parallel between the mysterious dragonsnakes who inhabit the Dagobah swamps and the Empire's hold on the galaxy, and does so with restraint and subtlety. This is a left for the reader to explore, with just the right amount of subtext and nuance to intrigue.

Daxiong's art is beautifully rendered and really brings Luke, Yoda, R2D2 and the Dragonsnake to life! This was a fun read, good pacing, excellent characterisation. Well recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Insight to Luke's Training on Dagobah!, January 20, 2012

This review is from: Star Wars Adventures: Luke Skywalker and the Treasure of the Dragonsnakes (Paperback)
As Luke trains with Master Yoda in the swamps of Dagobah, Yoda sents Luke on a quest to the `jagged place' in search of a treasure that is guarded by the king of the Dragonsnakes. However, Luke must use all his newly-obtained force powers and all the concentration he can muster in order to overcome this giant, green beast and get the coveted item that is so grand, even Master Yoda wants it!

So, this gives a little more explanation to that thing that tried to eat R2 in Empire Strikes Back. That scene is shown in this book and revealed that it was the king of the Dragonsnakes that grabbed him and spit him out. However, I found it odd they would make Yoda covet an item so dearly (although, by the end, you understand why) and it was neat seeing some of the stuff Luke did on Dagobah that wasn't shown in the movie. It's a short book but a good read; especially for the kiddies.

Lately this franchise is all about the bucks and story lines are starting to suffer because of it...this is no exception. Takes place during Lukes training with Yoda and the best parts of this digest is Yoda's mannerisms. Art is good and the story is an easy read not many dialogue bubbles in this issue. If I had to choose one thing that is superb about this issue is the Dagobah creatures that are explored in this small story. If you feel like shelling out the dough for this issue you already know what to expect but if you are a first timer to the new Adventure digest there are better choices in the Star Wars universe. Try Legacy you want regret it. Check out my comic reviews at [...]!
