Okay, so few people will probably even see this as this game is several years old now but why not, right?I actually bought this game when it first came out but after several moves I lost one of the several disks and the instruction manual so I was unable to re-install it. This is a cheap replacement and it works just as well...plus it's just one disk which is very nice. You don't have to sit there during 10 minutes of installation waiting for the "please insert disk.." prompts. The game itself is fun and you get to fight in famous Star Wars locations like Hoth, The Death Star and The Jedi Temple. You even get to fight in space battles. In the first Star Wars Battlefront, heroes would assist you in the battle but you could never play as them. in this game you have the option of being able to play as one of the heroes from the films. There are several methods of play as well. You have the main story-driven campaign where you follow the 501st legion from the early days of the Clone Wars to the end of the Empire at Endor. Each mission has different objectives. The maps are different enough and the objectives are different enough to keep the game interesting. Then there is the galactic conquest mode. This is a new mode for this game and you pretty much get to play as one of the four factions in two different wars (The CIS/Republic in the Clone Wars or the Empire/Rebellion in the Civil War). You'll have to build fleets, capture planets and buy new types of units or bonuses. This is a fun mode but it can get repetive especially as the computer may seem hell-bent on capturing one planet and you'll end up fighting that one battle over and over. another mode is free play. You can pick whichever maps you want to play on and the mode of play; capture the flag, assault, etc. This is fun if you like certain maps more than the others or if you don't want to invest your time in the campaigns. Of course there is online play though I don't play online so I can't talk about it. The AI in this game is decent enough. You don't really have control over your side so you can't really coordinate attacks or anything. Basically, it's up to you to win the day. The space battles are fun but they too can get boring and it would have been nice if they had spent more time on these. Overall, this is a fun game, even if it is 3 years old.

Battlefront II Review,

Great price for a great game. Graphics are much superior to console versions, assuming you have the rig to crank up the settings to high quality. I prefer a keyboard and mouse to a controller any day, but if you must use a controller there is nothing stopping you from using a nice gamepad. Online play is great. I have no idea why the product description says Windows XP Home, it works just fine on any version of Windows the game supports (I use XP Pro). This is the DVD version of the game, which is a great time saver because you don't have to hassle with a bunch of CDs during install.NOTE - game comes in a jewel case, and that is all - no manual, no box. The manual is available in PDF format on the DVD, however.

Star Wars Battlefront II gives players an entire range of characters to choose from, including Jedi, Sith, clonetroopers, stormtroopers, droids, Rebels, Ewoks, Jawas, Tuskan Raiders, Banthas, Geonosians, Gungans and more. The standard lineup for each race usually consists of a regular soldier, a sniper, an engineer, a guy with a bazooka, and two characters you can unlock after you collected enough points. Each of these characters have up three to four weapons depending on which one you pick, including grenades, blasters, mines, fusion cutters, recon droids, detpacks, and health kits. You are also presented the opportunity to command a range of vehicles, including starfighters, gunships, the giant walkers from THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, speeder bikes, hellfire droids, spider walkers, tank-like vehicles and different types of turrets. And boy do you have a lot of heroes and villians to play as, including Bobba and Jango Fett, Luke and Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Han Solo, Chewbacca, General Grievous, Count Dooku, and a few Darths. (Yes, there's Vader)The game has several different ways a playing it. You can use INSTANT ACTION to jump into any level you want and choose from CONQUEST, CAPTURE THE FLAG, HUNT, and XL. Then you have the GALATIC CONQUEST option, which is a complex lineup of strategic planning, financing (in a way) and a good crosshair aim. In this mode you can recruit soldiers, purchase bonuses like extra shielding, sabatogue, turret deploy, and much more. The goal is to conquer all enemy planets and defend your own from invasion. Another cool mode is the CAMPAIGN mode, where you follow the story of the 501st Legion from when they were clonetroopers, through Order 66, to when they were stormtroopers. In this mode, you complete different objectives like capturing command posts, blowing up something important to the enemy, guarding an area, taking out whoever the Empire wants gone, and killing everyone after your entire platoon is dead and an army of trigger-happy rebels surround you left and right. In this mode you also get to fight enemies you cannot fight in the other modes. The graphics in this game are really good, especially considering when it came out, but you may experience some graphic problems in first person made when playing as certain characters. Yet, those problems can be fixed by a few simple graphics card settings ajustments. So don't be worried! Oh, and one other thing. This isn't a spoiler or anything, so there's no reason to reject this review, right? There is a website- unfortunately because of the Amazon rules, I can't tell you where- but anyways there's a website where you can download things called MODS and MAPS these add extra levels, characters, weapons, vehicles, textures, and abilities to the game. Unfortunately half of them don't seem to work for some reason. There are also four different cheatcodes I know of, but I won't push the limits here. Sorry if you don't know how to enter cheatcodes. You can find out by researching, like I had to do. If I told you, this wouldn't be up here. Overall, this is a fun, addicting game, and is great for anyone who loved the movies and wants to relive them through a controller or keyboard.

Okay, so first off, let me explain my title by saying that I prefer to play FPS games with a gamepad. If you prefer to use the keyboard and mouse, then please disregard this review. I have been playing this game on the XBox (yes, the original XBox..not the 360) since it first came out. Since I am in the desert right now, and didn't bring my XBox with me, I decided to buy the PC version. Now, while I absolutely LOVE this game, I'm not too hot on the PC version. The packaging says that it is gamepad compatible, but I've used 2 different controllers (a logitech gamepad and an XBox 360 controller), and neither one works very well.....AND you have to manually set up the controls, unlike every other gamepad compatible game I have ever played.I'm not going to go into graphics and audio quality of this game...it is what it is, and honestly, if a game is fun to play, who cares how good the graphics are? This game IS fun to play...that's for sure. It was a HUGE improvement over the first Battlefront (which I also own...on the XBox...). All in all, if you want to buy this game, buy it for the XBox, you won't be sorry.

This game is very fun. Although it is a bit old, the graphics are not bad. It works with Vista. You may have to download a few patches though. The only problem with it is I have to wait about 1 minute between each session of playing. The missions are fun and not too hard. I enjoy this games very much. I have installed the game onto a different computer (still vista), but I followed the instructions from this site, and now the game works without pauses and it performs flawlessly: [...].

This game may be old but it's a goody! I am almost 14 and I try to play it as often as I can. I also have it for my PSP and it's better on the big screen, but loads of fun! Get it for a cheap, fun time!

This is one of the Classic FPS games I would recommend to new and players of old.Instead of telling you the Pro's and Con's about it, just take this one thing I have to say about it into consideration... This game WILL bring you hours of fun, there are still people online who play on dedicated servers (sure it may glitch and lagg at times but with a game like this you can deal with it), the combat system is wonderful, and all in all, a very enjoyable experience. I have nothing negative to say about this product due to all the house of pain and joy it has given me. If you are a Star Wars fan, and love using Addons with it, then your going to have an awesome time.

I have played this game on the Playstation 2 and it it really hard because you have to aim with the control stick, which is really cumbersome unless you have played it a long time and you are used to those controls. On the PC, as you might expect, you aim with the mouse, which is much easier than aiming with a clumsy control stick. This game is awesome in almost all aspects: It has fantasic graphics, a huge variaty of split-second deadly weapons, including the Arc Caster (it shoots electricity), the Incinerator (it, as the name suggests, inceinerates enemies, making them dissipear), the Bowcaster (shoots five deadly laser bolts at once, also has double zoom), The Sonic pistol (shoots sonic blasts, like what Genoisans use), and I won't spoil them all for you, but I will tell you that you will love them all! The controls are very easy to use, as I have said, exept for space battles. You constantly have to set the sensitivity down lower, because the ship moves with every twitch of the mouse, making it hard to control the ship and to fire accurately. The other con is that (at least on my computer) is that it loads really super slow, and shows the page that you were just on and it also goes to the loading screen too, so it might just be my cruddy computer, or it might be a problem with the game. Other than that, it is a great game that will have you playing for months.
