Rebellion 4 and Legacy 6 - Is Dark Horse just trying to confuse us?,
By
This review is from: Star Wars: Vector Volume 2 - Chapters 3 & 4 (Paperback)
After trying unsuccessfully to find Star Wars Legacy volume 6 (I own 1-5), I finally looked on the Dark Horse homepage and found that Star Wars Vector volume 2 is actually a compilation of Rebellion volume 4 and Legacy volume 6. To make it more confusing, apparently there's going to be a Legacy volume 7 in December, but there won't be a separate volume 6 published. Annoying.
Anyway, 'Vector' is a fascinating story full of political intrigue, action, and nefarious plots spread out across four thousand years of the Star Wars universe and encompassing storylines from Rebellion, Legacy, Knights of the Old Republic, and Dark Times. Definitely worth reading if you've read any of those four series.

starwars vector vol.2 countinues the vector arc and does one heck of a job. The Rebellion arc is well-written and has great story and art . The legacy one is fantastic as well and is loaded with tons of amazing action thrills twists and a shocking ending . I'm NOT a fan of having to pick up crossover series in order to continue reading a series I like. I've been reading the Star Wars Lecacy series since it started, and it was definitely a pain when I had to pick up the two volumes of Vector in order to continue with the storyline. Thats said, Vector is a pretty good little story with interesting character development throughout all the generations of Star Wars. I don't feel like they needed to interrupt five or six different stories in order to make this comic compelling, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

I got this to complete my Star Wars Legacy series. I bought Vector 1 to be completionist. I love the story. The artwork is great as well. The story flows well and ties in to the rest of the Universe. Great read.

Ick... crossovers,

I don't like crossovers. I don't like having to buy a book I'm not interested in, by a different artist and writer, just to follow the story in a book I am interested in. I also don't like seeing a long-running storyline derailed by another book's plot. So although I love Star Wars Legacy I was ambivalent about picking this up.
I'm still not convinced it was a good idea. Vector is a crossover among 4 different Star Wars books set over 5000 years apart. The catalyst is Celeste Morne, an Old Republic Jedi possessed by a Sith talisman and frozen for 5000 years. She is reawakened by Vader, meets Luke and 150 years later meets Luke's descendant the drug-addicted bounty hunter Cade Skywalker. This book is volume 2 of the cross over and covers Celeste Morne's adventures with Luke and Cade. When we meet her Celeste is stranded on an uninhabited moon where she is tormented by a Sith ghost and has a small army of cannibal Rakghouls created by her cursed artifact. Vader lures Luke, Leia and Han to the moon thinking they will bring Celeste back to the Rebel fleet where her talisman will convert the rebels into Rakghouls and end their threat. The Rebels free her but she flees in another ship disappearing into the void. The action then cuts to 150 years later where Cade finds Celeste and they join forces to oppose Darth Krayt and his Sith Order. In a pivotal battle Krayt is defeated and the Legacy era is changed forever. Overall the plot, dialogue and art in this book were fine, even good. But I could not overcome how much I disliked the whole premise of the crossover. Celeste Morne and Rakghoul plague are annoying plot devices. Her talisman has the power to turn anyone, except key characters apparently, into hulking cannibal mutants. She has no real personality, alternating between whining about her fate and ranting when she is possessed by the talisman's evil spirit. In a bit stolen from Lord of the Rings everyone around her is tempted by her talisman except for the one man who does not want power. She could be interesting but came off as flat and very, very forced. If the final battle with Krayt had not been a crossover it would be a classic story and high point of Legacy, but adding in this unwelcome character and her complex 5000 year back-story made it a mess.

the rebellion arc is short, and doesnt reach its potential. However, the legacy arc more than makes up for this. this is a fun read, and is on par with the rest of the legacy stories.

Star Wars Women,
This review is from: Star Wars: Vector Volume 2 - Chapters 3 & 4 (Paperback)
Regarding the Vector cover, why is it that women in science fiction are expected to fly spaceships wearing a sexy bra and spandex pants?
