Anchored by the characters and events of the "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" animated series, Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes reveals a new and exciting chapter of the Star Wars saga. Containing the series' unique graphical style, a story conceived by the writers of the television series, multiple playable characters across two classes and co-op gameplay it is a must-have title sure to enthrall both new and more seasoned fans alike.
Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes lets Star Wars fans young and old live out the sweeping galactic adventures of the Clone Wars. For the first time ever, players can fight as their favorite Jedi and clone troopers from the preeminent animated television series – from familiar faces like Anakin Skywalker to new heroes like Clone Captain Rex. A brand-new storyline, which bridges the gap between season one and two, takes the player on a multifaceted adventure to stop a mysterious techno assassin’s destructive plot. Built around two-player cooperative action, the accessible controls and family-friendly gameplay bring Star Wars fans across generations together like never before to fight the evil Separatists and restore peace to the galaxy. Gameplay Gameplay in Star Wars the Clone Wars: Republic Heroes is mission-based. Players can choose to approach the action as either a Jedi or a clone class character. Playing as a Jedi you have access to eight playable characters, and as a clone you play as one of a group of clones. The game was developed with co-op play in mind, which means players can more or less count on never fighting alone, which is a good thing considering the hordes of battle droids and other enemies you will face. The game also features a puzzle-solving gameplay component, as well as an upgrade system based on the collection of "Force Orbs" scattered throughout the game environment. Weapons and Combat Keeping with the games' user friendly approach, the control scheme has been designed with Jedi character's lightsaber and force powers, as well as clone characters firing trigger accessible from a single input source. Because of the difference in the character classes weapons, combat differs depending on the class chosen. Due to their reliance on the their lightsabers, Jedi will mostly engage enemies at close range, although force power attacks can allow for more distance from targets. In addition, utilizing Jedi powers at point blank range players are able to engage in "droidjacking," which allows a Jedi to take control of a droid's weapons system and other abilities. On the other hand, clone character combat relies more on firepower, utilizing a variety of blaster type weapons and thermal grenades, although clones are able to acquire heavier weapons, such as miniguns and rocket launchers as the game progresses. Because of the projectile nature of these weapons clone character combat can be fought as a variety of distances. Key Game Features

Great game for fathers and their sons,

This is a great game from Lucas Arts! I quite don't understand the very negative ratings from other customers. I've played it with my son (11 years old) and we like the story. the graphics. the 3D environment, the missions and the Star Wars feeling. If you have an Xbox controller attached on your PC it makes also more fun. Overall we gave this game 5 stars and we hope there will be more such exciting games for the PC platform in the future!

Extremely Disappointed - Awful Control,

I thought this game looked fun, from some online research, and went out and bought it this afternoon. I don't really like multiplayer-focused games, but this looked to have enough single-player content to me fun. I just installed it, to find out it is not a typical 3rd-person perspective game. The camera angle is 3rd-person, but the path is fixed like a side-scroller. So, you cannot change the camera perspective or your character's direction with the mouse. I suppose this surprise is my own fault for not doing more thorough research, but it was pretty disappointing nonetheless. However, what cannot be blamed on myself is the god-awful control. Somehow, using WASD and space, you are supposed to make complex jumps from a fixed camera perspective. This is near impossible. Additionally, the mouse control on the menu system is like the cursor has a spring between it and your mouse movement, making the mere menu navigation maddening. I've never regretted a game purchase so much, so quickly. I will try to return it, but I doubt Best Buy will let me. Oh well, at least it was cheaper than usual (which I suppose should have been a tip-off).

Very fun, despite negative reviews...,
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars

[This review covers the PC version of the game.]
I almost waited to buy this game based on all the negative reviews I've read. I'm glad I didn't wait...it's a blast! What people say is partly true: the camera is funky at times, leading to many falls, but since there is very little penalty for falling, I don't really care too much. Another complaint is that it seems aimed more towards kids. I'm not sure how to take that...I'm 44, and I'm having a great time. It's true that this game does not offer the depth of Jedi Knight or Republic Commando, but it's not supposed to! It's a platforming, 3rd-person shoot-em-up, slice-em-up, and even though it's target audience may skew young, I find that there is plenty to keep me entertained. Another comment I've seen is that it's difficult to aim...also true, but not nearly as bad as I was led to expect. The reward and purchase system adds great replayability value, and most importantly, the game plays like a long episode of The Clone Wars...it's very immersive. The voice acting is great, the sound and music is excellent, and the graphics are very good, though some textures do look a bit lower-resolution than I'm used to in PC games. I'm playing it with a 360 controller because it's just more fun that way, but a keyboard/mouse configuration is also offered. If you like the Clone Wars series, I think you have a good chance of enjoying this game if you go in knowing what type of game it is and knowing that it does have a few minor issues. 2115|RTDE0HYVB91FE;2115|R2AUPTOAK5VHWS;2115|R29P3N2PE0SCWI;
