Editorial Reviews

Executive Producer George Lucas and Lucasfilm Animation present Star Wars: The Clone Wars The Complete Season Four. The battle to save the galaxy reaches new heights of peril and new depths of darkness. The valiant Jedi Knights and clone troopers defend exotic planets from enemy forces. They wage war underwater, battle across a night-shrouded world, and take on the merciless Death Watch. Our heroes are tested like never before as Anakin is haunted by the realities of his past, Ahsoka fights to free her people and an undercover Obi-Wan braves a deadly bounty hunter tournament. Season Four culminates with the shocking return of a villain from the past: the ruthless Darth Maul, who will stop at nothing to achieve vengeance. The epic action, timeless characters, and sense-shattering sights and sounds of Star Wars surge on in Star Wars: The Clone Wars The Complete Season Four.

4.0 out of 5 stars More Clone Wars fun July 30, 2012
Format:Blu-ray
Clone Wars in season 4 continued to impress. This season was filled with several multi-episode story arcs. I found the first half of the season generally disappointing. The Mon Calamari arc didn't do any favors to Admiral Ackbar's character. The Umbaran battle arc has impressive visuals, but dragged on a bit long. I generally found the slaver's arc to be uninspired, with too many silly stereotypes (including an entire race of slaver's with Russian accents).

The second half of the season really picked up the pace with Obi-Wan Kenobi's undercover arc. I loved seeing more of the bounty hunters, especially Cad Bane! There were some great moments foreshadowing Anakin Skywalker's downfall. Then, of course, the finale, with Asajj become a freelance agent, Boba Fett getting a helmet, and Darth Maul!

Overall, this season definitely showed that the animators have the technical capability to do just about anything on the show. The second half of the season showed that the producers are willing to take the story into really dark and interesting places. I can't wait for season 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Season review not DVD July 11, 2012
Format:DVD
Season 4 continues the greatness of The Clone Wars as this show seems to get better every year especially the production and animation. Season 4 is my favorite season to date I love the multi arc episodes and this season had 2 different 4 part story arcs also 2 different 3 parters and a 2 parter to close the season. Without giving too much away I would say the Umbara arc was one of the best and darkest of the series and darkest and well the cover gives away another big story with Darth Maul which was handled very well. If you are fan of the show this is a no brainer Clone Wars is turning out to be one of the all time greats and a nice addition to The Star Wars Universe. So it turns out it's the slim cheaper packaging again I knew it would be but oh well still on content alone it's well worth the purchase for any Star Wars fan simply a great show that gets better every Season.

Format:Blu-ray
"Star Wars" fans are a fickle bunch. Some choose to believe only the original trilogy is to be taken seriously. Others are willing to accept all six of the films in the live-action series and that's all. I belong to the last group I'm about to talk about.

The faction I belong to will devour anything Lucas and company delivers in regards to a "Galaxy Far, Far Away." We're happy to get anything that expands the universe we love so much. Individuals who fall into this category but don't have the luxury of cable, satellite television, or high speed internet connections can now celebrate in the news that Lucasfilm and Warner Bros. released "Star Wars: The Clone Wars - The Complete Season Four" on Bu-ray and DVD.

Season Four of the show features the Jedi and Clone troopers continuing their tireless campaign to help different alien species fight for freedom against Battle Droids, Sith lords, and other deadly forces on strange worlds. Things get more complicated when a sinister enemy from the past returns to seek vengeance against Obi-Wan Kenobi. Darth Maul recruits the brutal Savage Opress in a scheme to kill the Jedi Knight for the wounds he inflicted on the Sith apprentice.

"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" was meant to be seen in high-definition and this delivers just that. Every vibrant color scheme on every exotic planet the Jedi and Clone troopers journey to in their battle with the evil Empire are amplified. The picture is clean and provides a flawless viewing experience without distractions. It's the perfect way for the vast CGI world of "The Clone Wars" to be taken in. It's amazing how beautifully textured the landscapes and exteriors and interiors of the spaceships look. The animators and creative team really have moved forward light years since the beginning of the series in 2008.

A 5.1 surround sound mix ensures that no home theater audiences will miss a single buzzing lightsaber, blasting laser rifle, or speeding starship that crosses the television screen. Kevin Kiner's musical score adds an emotional depth to each episode. It takes the familiar pieces of John Williams' original compositions and expands on them to give the series its own unique atmosphere. The dialogue blends well within the framework of the sound effects and soundtrack as well.

Bonus material for the set includes five video commentaries with the director, cast, and crew of the show. An all-encompassing database of early test animation, concept art, and 3D turnarounds are featured. There's also a collectible "Wanted" poster with Cad Bane and other bounty hunters.

"Star Wars: The Clone Wars - The Complete Season Four" is all the proof you need that this excellent show deserves your attention and respect. It's improved both visually and in story quality over the past few years. Long-time enthusiasts will be happy to know many beloved characters new and old show up including Count Dooku, General Grievous, Jar Jar Binks, Boba Fett, and many more. It's a complex science fiction thrill ride that will keep you glued to your TV screen for hours.

When Star Wars the clone wars season 5 come out on blu ray Be the first to reply
German language? Be the first to reply
Is this in Widescreen or Fullscreen?
"bluray is always going to be widescreen"

Not true. Bluray is a format and has no effect on the ratio that the video was shot in.

is star wars the clone wars season 4 price kinda high and will go down...
When I preordered it was $41.99. I'm sure the price will go back down as the release date gets closer. It's always best to preorder as early as you can that way you'll get the lowest possible price.
