4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but not as good as the older ones, April 14, 2004

I own 6 of these electronic lightsabers. I just recently bought this green Luke Skywalker one for my son. It seems as if they make a different set of toy electronic lightsabers each year. This time, they extended the blade about 6 inches over the length of the ones from last year, and used a thinner plastic for the blade.

I know that you're not supposed to duel with them, but the new one cannot even come close to holding up like the old ones. I duel all the time with my kids. This new one is already bending when clashed... I would recommend hunting down an older one like Obi-wan's, Anakins, or Count Dooko's.. I can verify that those three are especially strong and are duel-worthy and have worked perfectly through 4 sets of batteries so far.

This is a great toy. I'll give it a four on "how much fun is this toy" because it dosn't have a belt clip which stinks.I gave it a one on education 'cause if you want to learn how to put batteries inside a plastic tube, then be my guest. The reason I gave it four stars on durabilty is because after a few battles, it starts to get a few scratches, but nothing big. All in all, this is a great toy and "buy it you shall."

I purchased this lightsaber a few days ago, and already has some dents on it. I wasn't using it that hard. You would be better off buying a basic lightsaber (the non- electronic ones) because the durability on them is alot better, and it doesn't really matter if there are no sound effects, just saves you the $5 of buying new batteries all the time.
