This review is from: Star Wars Epsode 1 Yoda Action Figure (Toy)
Why is it that kids are the only ones who get to have all of the fun?I've had this Star Wars Episode 1 Yoda Action Figure ever since I first bought it in 2001 as a desktop "toy" in an IT geek environment, and as a Project Mangler (read that carefully), it served me quite well. The company that I worked for is long gone now, but Yoda remains on the bookshelf above my computer desk, seated there in his Jedi Council Chair, in his ever-stoic fashion, ready to dispense wisdom (at least in my mind) whenever needed. It came with the CommTech Chip gadget that worked with the optional CommTech Reader, but I never bought it. Yoda was inspiration enough. And this was a popular saying as we watched so many companies in the computer field going through their agonies in the spring of 2001: "No! Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try." ~ YODA, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back For those who have worked around computer geeks in an IT (Information Technology) environment, then you know that items such as the solar-powered OWI Frightened Grasshopper Kit or the USB Pet Rock have a habit of proliferating desktops. Some of these gadgets make noise, some move around, some shoot harmless foam pellets, and some like Yoda just sit there, inviting comments or even the envy of those who weren't the first to get one. Then there's the amazing Annoy-a-tron by ThinkGeek, which is designed to effectively disturb "that guy in the sales department or your 'friend' down the hall" with its three very annoying sound choices (2 kHz, 12 kHz, or alternating). That one is often hidden away with its magnetic attachment, and has been known to drive the unsuspecting receiver of such an item nuts trying to find it. For some there are the 12 Nerd Rubber Duckies, which can be pulled out individually to express an emotion or mood ("Let's see... I'm a bookworm today"), arranged in small social groups on your desk, or shared with colleagues if you're feeling magnanimous. Personally I like the one with the glasses and pocket protector, but we each have our preferences. Speaking of Star Wars geek toys for the desktop, I also have the Star Wars R2-D2 w/Booster Rockets which was bought shortly after getting Yoda, but my son absconded with it, so I had to get another. It happens. The booster rockets are long gone, but R2-D2 maintains his vigil, waiting for some wise suggestions from Yoda. "When nine hundred years old you reach, look as good, you will not, hmmm?" ~ YODA, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi We should all be so lucky...
