Finally! After years and years NEW fx lightsabers are back and i have to say they did not disappoint.
First of all if you already have a master replica or hasbro fx saber don't expect any changes in quality or durability. It still is made with great material and is as durable as the previous sabers. (Note: most people think master replica sabers are better then the hasbro ones, but they're THE SAME THING! MADE BY THE SAME COMPANY! just different brand name X]) Anyway, there were only two things i really disliked about the saber. 1. it was a lot bulkier then i expected, the hilt was wielding with one hand by Count Dooku in the movie, but if you were to duel with this saber, unless you're fairly strong, don't wield this with one hand. 2. The stand that is made to hold the strange hilt design of the saber was made really dumb. Basically it cannot be flush with a table or else the bottom of the hilt cannot stand properly on the stand. if you do end up buying this saber you'll have to put something like a book on the table and put the stand on the book but let the end of the saber hang so it's not touching the book. Did that make sense? it will if you buy the saber. another thing were there aren't really any sound effects on it. for those who have the darth maul sabers it doesn't have many sound effects while it is on, which is rather disappointing. however i love the detail and design and it is a great saber to add to any hardcore fan or regular fan's collection. Another good thing is the battery pack has a little case over it that covers about 3/4ths of the battery, it is held down with a small screw. at first i found this annoying, but i realized it was to keep the batteries from popping out. the batteries pop out? somewhat yes. if you duel with these sabers sometimes the impact with push the batteries out of the place their in, but not out so far that they stop giving power to the saber. why does that matter? because the battery will prevent the battery pack from coming out when you try to replace the battery or etc. i hope you enjoy this saber! woot first review!

Very nice addition to the FX line,

At last, years after the Force FX line began, one of the most hoped-for models finally makes its appearance. The Count Dooku saber has probably the most distinctive design of any lightsaber, and despite its technically problematic design, Hasbro was able to create a near-perfect replica without sacrificing the hilt's uniquely bent shape. Like all of the sabers in the series, it's slightly larger than the props appearing in the films, but the difference is minor.
Lest anyone be misinformed, I want to comment on a few of the alleged problems mentioned in the one other (as of this writing) review of this product: first, it sits in its display stand perfectly well, without the back end hanging too low. Second, the suggestion that it does not make sound effects after being powered up is simply not the case. It makes the exact same set of sounds as the Vader model. The speaker doesn't have quite the same punch as on the Vader model, but it's far from inaudible. The beam is also slightly less bright, even on fresh batteries, which may be due to the use of AAA instead of AA sized batteries. There is one noticeable defect in the manufacturing, which stops me from giving this a five out of five. As with all the other Force FX sabers, the battery pack is accessed by unscrewing the end cap. Unlike any of the others, this one's end cap does not have a symmetrical design (most of the others have a perfectly round end piece), and it unfortunately does not line up properly if you actually screw it flush to the hilt. Due to a miscommunication regarding Christmas lists, I actually received two of these over the holidays, and both had this problem (though curiously, they were not both misaligned in the same way). I addressed the issue with a narrow strip of electrical tape wrapped over the threading, so that the end cap could fit snugly without being being turned the final two-thirds of its last turn, allowing it to align correctly. This problem aside, this is a beautifully-made replica and probably my favorite in the series. A small but enjoyable feature is the tiny on/off switch on the bottom, which allows one to turn the saber on and off with a minute finger motion, giving the visual impression, much like in the films, that it simply activates and deactivates at the user's will. If you have a collection of these items, you'll probably want this one, too. If you plan to only ever purchase one, I'd suggest this one as a worthy candidate.

This was my second Force FX lightsaber, after the Luke Skywalker (Episode IV) model.
It feels like a quality product... the hilt is very heavy (double or more the weight of the Luke saber, which I thought was heavy until receiving this one), but feels very durable. The blade is quite stiff, compared to Luke's. The sounds are a bit quieter than the Luke saber, and the blade isn't quite as bright. I'm not sure if these are faults with mine, specifically, or the model as a whole. The issue with brightness is also likely due to the difference in colour. In the dark, they're almost identical, but in (indoor) light, the Dooku saber is very pink/orange. Outside, both are invisible. I'm pleased with it, and I'm glad I have it, but I'm glad it's not my only lightsaber. It won't be my last, either.

This, along with most of the other Hasbro/MR Lightsabers, is a great item. I'm glad they came out with the Count Dooku handle, as it's one of the most unique ones in the Star Wars univers.
It displays just like all of the others. It's a cheap plastic stand, but it gets the job done. The hilt is very durable! Metal casing, very clean. The sound is just like all the other sith sabers, power up, clash, idle-hum, motion swish, and power down. For play, it is pretty fun. It is durable enough to duel with, but I wouldn't go at it too hard unless you convert it using the TCSS kits. The hilt is a little bit bigger than expected, but anyone with a reasonable dexterity can wield it. Overall, it's a great product, both for show and play.

I received this lightsaber as a gift, and I chose it over the Darth Vader FX because of how unique the design was. And i was very pleased when it arrived, because it is very durable, and very beautiful as a collectable. However, i was stunned at the light and sound it produced. I also own an Anakin Skywalker FX, which i received first, which has an amazing light and sound quality. But this replica disappointed me. First of all, the red light is more orange, and is much dimer than the other lightsaber, and second, the sound quality was unique, but much quieter. However, it is very durable, but should still be played with very cautiously. All in all, it is a very beautiful and unique collectable.

If you read this, assume that EVERYTHING else that's not mentioned here, means it's perfect =)
- The lightsaber is heavier than I thought; - One piece loosened from the hilt; - Slow sounds. But worth it! Amazing "toy"!

Our other one is a Yoda. This thing is huge and heavy! My son and I cannot play with it for long. It is very beautiful and decorative on my son's wall though. 3 of 5. P.S. It killed the Yoda. Do Not Duel with these, you'll get black dead spots.

If you like fx lightsabers, you will enjoy this one. It feels more solid and heavier than the others (like the ventress lightsaber). Only complaint is how to display it with my others since the saber is slightly curved !!!

I had always hoped this lightsaber was made and I found it on Amazon.com. Bought the lightsaber a week before Christmas and actually had it by the 23rd, roughly 3 days regular shipping. When I got it, it was as described and it was a great addition to my collection. I would buy from Amazon.com again.

The Hasbro ForceFX lightsabers SUCK compared to authentic Master Replicas. I don't even care that they are making new models. I will never get another. The blade wobbles, the sound effects are weak and garbled, and there is a SEAM along the hilt of the blade.
Compared to my Master Replica blades, this thing looks like crap. I don't even keep it next to my originals. The finish is dull and mottled by comparison. Even if I wanted to put it with the originals, I couldn't. The base has holes for wall mounting, but the plastic supports exceed the depth of the base and cannot be inserted if the base is on the wall! Don't bother. Save your money and find an authentic Master Replica blade on Ebay. |
