This is a really cool thing to own if you're a big Star Wars fan. I got it in the mail a few days ago and have been having fun with it since.

The metal hilt is very durable and well constructed. It's not an exact movie replica, the hilt is a little bigger than the ones they used in the movies because of all the electronics they had to stuff in there. But it's not overly huge or anything, like those cheap $15 you can buy at any toy store.

The blade is just awesome. The bright blue shines and glows even in well lit environments. But when you turn off all the lights and turn it on, it just looks really cool the way it glows in the dark. I thought it was also cool how when you turn it on or off, you can see the glow of the blade expanding and retracting as if it was a "real" lightsaber.

Now as someone else said, this isn't really the type of toy you just want to go around swinging madly and stage your own Anakin VS Obi-Wan fights (even though it will make a clashing noise when the blade is tapped). That's not to say it's not durable, because it is very well constructed, but I just don't think it would be wise to go bashing the blade into stuff.

It sounds really awesome too, just like in the movies. And the batteries (it takes 3 AA batteries [not included]) are quick and easy to install, you don't even need a screwdriver or anything.

I really see this as more of a collector's item (it even comes with a stand to proudly display it), something to show off to your friends, or maybe as a really good costume piece for halloween. I'm a bit of a sword collector myself, so I kind of see this as a nice addition to my collection.

If you've ever wanted to know what it feels like to hold the power of a lightsaber in your hand, this is probably the closest thing you're ever gonna get.

If you want something to really fight with this isn't the toy. But if you want something for an older StarWars nut to swing around in the dark and pretend like he's Anakin, this is the toy. My son saved birthday money to buy this and loves it. It's not something he can fight with his brothers with but when he breaks it out he's definitely the coolest Anakin around. I think he spent his money on something he really loves!!!

This is my first "Force FX" lightsaber, and I must say that I am completely satisfied. It lights up and shuts down realistically, with accurate sounds. It also makes noises when you move it around, and of course when you strike the blade on something. I don't know how good the Master Replicas were, but I'm sure this is just as good, if not better.

My 8 year old son got this for Christmas, and its the coolest lightsaber! The sound effects are great, and the blade is as realistic as you can get. It has not broken yet in the hands of an 8 year old, so I think we are doing pretty good. It seems very well made. Hands down, if you are a mega Star Wars fan, you'll love this lightsaber!

I bought this lightsaber to display in my home theater along with a Master Replicas Episode V Darth Vader Force FX saber and a Vader print I owned. Anyone claiming that the Hasbro sabers are of lesser quality when compared to the older Master Replicas versions are just trying to be loyal to the MR brand. The build quality is just as impressive, the light effect exactly the same, and the sound is actually louder. The only negative I can see about the Anakin light saber is that the on/off switch is in a location that's easy to accidently switch it off if you're swinging it around. Don't be scared off by the Hasbro name...it's the closest you'll ever get to having the real thing.

Just like the title I'm telling you. Buy this only if you want it as a collectable.

There is a group of guys out there who make light sabers that are brighter and insanely durable. You can throw them in pools, run over them with cars, and of course... hack the heck out of each other with them.

Anyways, if that's what you want then buy those. They aren't as pretty (made out of pvc or something, not chrome metal like this) but they are a lot more fun and cheaper.

For you star wars fans if you want something to impress your friends then this is it. Also, it does have it's own durability. You'll want to baby it but you can smack this thing around pretty good before something breaks.

Metal handle is pretty but gets finger prints on it when you walk by it, hah!

This was a gift from Santa. This lightsaber is beyond amazing. From the illumination it provides in a room at 5:30a to the sounds it makes when swished five feet in front of you. It has provided hours of imagination, which has encouraged stories in Writer's workshop in our son's classroom. If you are a collector, of any age, this is a MUST. I, myself, enjoy the heaviness of the handle and the precision look. Sturdy beyond belief.

Santa brought me this sweet baby for Christmas. My little boy received Vader's sword (he's Sith, you see.). Of course, the family living room was ablaze with neon swordplay before any other gifts could get unwrapped. However, during these epic battles (ironically of father and son), I couldn't help but notice that the sound effects associated with the saber's motion were much better on the red, Vader sword. The Anakin sword had somewhat delayed sound effects. Also, the swooping sound was not as pronounced as the Vader sword. Not a big deal since the saber, kept over the fireplace, is used primarily for stalking the halls at night to obtain midnight sustenance, and the occasional juvenile discipline of a Jedi parent's Sith child gone astray.

Worth every penny Santa dropped on it in spite of the sound delay.

I bought this for my 5 year old grandson. He loves star wars because his daddy grew up playing all the time. Very durable. It is alittle pricey but he plays with it almost every day. Just loves being a Jedi. I would reccomend to any star wars fan.

My husband is a huge Star Wars fan, and has wanted a light saber of high quality "as close to a real lightsaber as you can get" for some time. I bought this for him and he is very pleased. This is a great collector's piece. The power up and power down visual and audio effects are awesome. The other audio effects are inconsistent, but still really cool. You have to swing it just right to get it to make the sound. It's supposed to make a sound when it contacts something as well, but we haven't tried too hard to get that one - we don't want to break it. The blade is plastic and fairly durable, but not meant for real play. It is NOT a toy for kids. We have it mounted on our wall.
