Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Star Wars Galaxies is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that lets you assume the role of nearly any type of character in the Star Wars universe and interact with thousands of other players' characters as well as established characters from the movies. You can be a shady smuggler, like Han. You can be a cold bounty hunter, like Boba Fett. You can even be a Jedi, like Luke. You can create and develop any character you like and seek out adventure and excitement as you see fit. Best of all, the game never ends--it persists and changes online, even when you're not playing. Interaction with other players is what this game is all about; you can get together with your Rebel friends and raid an Imperial bunker, or work with other Imperial troops to squash Rebel scum. You can instruct young Jedi in the ways of the Force, or you can work with other bounty hunters to hunt down outlaw Jedi and bring them to justice. Or you can manage a cantina or parts shop and marvel at the galaxy's vast variety of heroes, scum, and villainy.

Product Description

Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided takes you deep into the Star Wars universe, where you can choose your destiny in a massive-multiplayer online role player! You can even try to become a Jedi -- and after Jedi training you can be seduced by the Dark Side!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor customer service, April 30, 2005
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided (CD-ROM)
I would have previously rated this game 4 or 5 stars. Unfortunately I am no longer able to play due to a 27 hr download via dial up for a recent patch that I am unable to make(DSL and Cable are not available in my area). Poor planning by Sony to inconvenience paying customers, especially in a shrinking market now dominated by XBox and PS2 gamers. It would have been so much easier to add this new patch to the upcoming Wookie expansion due out fairly soon. I'm disappointed to cancel an account that I've had for almost 2 years. I've got to spend my gaming $$$ elsewhere now.

1.0 out of 5 stars Only buy this product if you are a glutten for punishment, April 30, 2005

I've played, enjoyed, and loved this game since fall of 2003, but Sony Online Entertainment has stripped this game of everything that once made it unique, and has just changed this game into an EverQuest clone. On top of that, their handling of upset customers has been the worst example of public relations I have ever seen. From anybody. The only way I would ever recomend this game to anybody, is if I knew they were feeling down about not being treated poorly enough.

I will never do business with Sony Online Entertainment again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware... all is not as it appears., May 2, 2005
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided (CD-ROM)
What was once the most innovative and unique MMORPG in the gaming community has now been blanketly conformed to match that of all others.

The tag line "The Greatest Story Ever Told... Yours" now belies the true nature of the game. One of the most important aspects of the previous SWG was that you had individuality. Crafters heavily competed against each other to create the best products possible to earn business. Since the 'Combat Upgrade' there are caps on what the best can be. The only way to gain individuality is to go fight a rancor without armor, to which other players will place the thought process behind such an action as either incredibly brave, or incredibly stupid.

Most negative feedback posts to SOE's site have been deleted giving the impression that there is still viable gameplay to be had. However, as anyone reading the feedback on various gaming websites can see, that the game has been forever changed, and unfortunately, for the worse.

SOE seems to have forgotten that the most important piece to this once great game, is their customer base, and has forsaken the input from it. Buyer beware.
