I recall the early eighties when I bought my son the speederbike from Return of the Jedi and how much fun he had with it. The cool thing was that with a touch of a button it would explode, sending the rider into the air.Fast forward twenty years. My second son, now into Star Wars, wanted a play set that included a two speeder bikes. What a disappointment when we discovered it did not have the 'exploding' feature. More of a disappointment was that the rider had to be rubber-banded on to it because they don't fit, otherwise. Doing a search on Amazon I came across Star Wars Power of the Force Imperial Speeder Bike. It was offered used at about $10.00. When my son started playing with it he quickly found out that this was the original style and the figure actually fits! And it explodes into pieces that are easily put back together. What fun. If you need a good speeder bike for your collection, don't buy the newest. Go for the older ones that actually work. They're more fun!

My son wanted a clone speeder but this is an older issue of the original speeder bikes from endor. The price of the newer version was 3X's as expensive, and this bike is more than adequate. My son loves it. And for those buying for kids, this one has a button that "explodes" the speeder into two pieces, mimicing the scenes from the speeders hitting the trees on endor. My son didnt really apprecite that feature, as he would accidentily hit the button... so I unhooked the spring mechanism and used a little super glue to hold the bike together and he is happy. Collectors, obviously will cringe, but my kid just wants to play with it and its fine with me...the price being what it was, makes it much easier for me to justify modifying it. The movable rear flaps are cool, but do come off kinda easily. Overall, I am completely satisfied with the purchase. |
