4.0 out of 5 stars Not a wireless controller
This controller is not wireless. I don't know if the above reviewer is reviewing the wrong controller or not but this controller deffenitely has a wire attatched. The controller is good for the price although some of the buttons are a little stiff at first and need some button mashing to get them going. It is a good controller for the price though.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Competency of the Sith
I admit it. I'm a STAR WARS geek. And I'm proud of it. So naturally, given the opportunity to spend money on a controller that's got a special button that's marginally useful in only one game, I picked it up. And you know, I don't care. It's a fine little controller. Dumb, kinda, because, really, the XBOX controller that comes with the unit is, on balance, better,...

This review is from: Star Wars Jedi Hunter Controller (Video Game)
I admit it. I'm a STAR WARS geek. And I'm proud of it. So naturally, given the opportunity to spend money on a controller that's got a special button that's marginally useful in only one game, I picked it up. And you know, I don't care. It's a fine little controller. Dumb, kinda, because, really, the XBOX controller that comes with the unit is, on balance, better, but it doesn't have these nifty Darth Vader side grips.

Why is what's "free" better than this add on? Well, the Jedi Hunter is maybe 30% smaller than the now-standard "mini" XBOX controller. It therefore takes some getting used to. But this isn't all negative. To be honest, I'm increasingly liking the smaller version. Maybe because I'm using the wireless version, there's something kinda cool about having a controller that can be so easily stowed away. My growing love of this smaller size extends only so far, however. The joystick buttons just feel a little too flimsy sometimes in games that really make use of them. Ironically REVENGE OF THE SITH, the game for which the controller is made, is one such game. And, dangit, it's sometimes quite a chore to execute a move that requires pressing on the thumbstick button in the middle of a larger button sequence. I don't know why, exactly, but they don't have that same reliable "click" of the standard controller. I've actually found myself going back to the standard controller while playing REVENGE and then using the Jedi Hunter for most other games.

Otherwise, though, Intec has wisely chosen not to alter the position of the buttons, as was common to the first generation of 3d party controllers. So at least you're not fighting against instinct when trying to get used to this new controller. They may be smaller buttons, but at least they're in the "right" place.

On balance, then, it's nothing revolutionary. Most people probably don't even know this controller exists, and there's nothing about the design that screams "BUY ME NOW!" But it is a competent controller, at a completely reasonable price. Because both the wired and wireless versions of the Jedi Hunter (as opposed to the Jedi/Sith 2-pack) are black, the casual observer would be hard-pressed to notice the Vader markings on it. It's a very low-key STAR WARS design that probably only the user would appreciate. It would make, I think, a nice stocking stuffer for the STAR WARS-lovin', XBOX-playin' members of your household. Especially those who want to keep their love of STAR WARS as secret as the Sith.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wireless isn't as good as it sounds...., July 24, 2005

I bought this controller and was not happy to see that the slightest object in the path of the controller and the chip in the system would cause the controller to go on the fritz. During play I would loose the ability to control my character and it would cause me to loose battles especially with the episode III game. Stick with the set of controllers jedi and sith with the cords.
