This is another great job done by the Legacy people. Unfortunately, there is a break between Volume 5 and Volume 7. Do yourself a favor and read Star Wars Vector Volume 2 (specifically Chapters 3 & 4) before picking this volume up. The reason is that you'll miss out on a very important aspect of the story. Why the creators decided to throw fans a curveball, I'm not sure. I had to do some research as to why Volume 6 was missing and came up with the answer in the Dark Horse forums. This series is definitely for those true fans who want to see great storylines with pretty decent art work. I'd recommend not giving it to children under 12, unless you've already exposed them to the dark side of the Star Wars world. If your kid is easily haunted by nightmares, it might not be a good idea. If your kid has a tough stomach, pass these on to them.

I dropped by the comic store and happened to pick this one up. It contains three slightly related but mostly independant stories featuring different sets of characters. This is the first of these Legacy books I've bought, and it pretty much makes sense without having read the previous volumes. However, the character of Cade Skywalker is so unlikeable (in this volume anyway) that I'm not really inspired to buy any more. The Imperial Knight(a new type of character: a Force-user who works for the Empire, but doesn't appear to be evil) was much more admirable. Well written and with good art, though.

This is getting up there in the Trade Paperbacks from the Star Wars Legacy. As usual, the art is amazing and the writing is not bad, but its the story itself that I wasnt a fan of this time around. It was interesting and added another facet to the Legacy story line, but it just didnt hold me like the other TPB did. I can honestly say that for the price, you need to buy it but if your looking just for a single volume, from this series... go with an earlier one.

John Ostrander's work in Grimjack, the Suicide Squad and the Spectre established his still with morally compromised heroes. He shows off this skill in his highly-successful Star Wars Legacy books. Set more than 100 years after Return of the Jedi, these books star Cade Skywalker, a drug-addicted bounty hunter and last of his line, as he fends off the Jedi, the Loyalist Empire, the Sith Empire and other forces. But Ostrander has been careful to develop his supporting cast and the universe around them.

After the events of the Vector cross-over, the Sith Empire is leaderless, Cade's lover Azlyn is mortally wounded and the galaxy hangs on the brink of all-out war.

This volume begins with a guerilla war as the Sith try to exterminate the Mon Calamari. Then we check in on the remnants of the New Republic as they try to form an alliance with the Loyalist Empire against the Sith. Double and triple-crosses follow. Finally we return to Cade's story.

The art by Jan Duursema is as strong as ever.

My one complaint is that things are feeling a bit slow. Cade seems stuck in the same place he started and after 7 volumes I'd like to see more. But I'm still hooked and eager to see the next book.
