The first story, Legacy of the Jedi was an awesome story. You started reading and hit the ground running. It gave great new insight into Dooku and the beginings of his fall. The second story, Secrets... was not as exciting, but still interesting. It shows Obi-Wan dealing with some of the same problems Anakin does. It also includes a short story by Watson that is about Obi-Wan set before the Last of the Jedi series and after Revenge of the Sith. Overall this book is awesome and you get two books for the price of one. Star Wars fans young and old will enjoy it. Even though the release date say May I found it a week ago at a book store. The cover is different also. The cover actually has Anakin in the forground with Yoda, Dooku, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan in the background.

Jude Watson has the singular ability to tie in the themes of the Star Wars movies into all her SW books. Too bad she doesn't write "adult" novels... she'd best many of today's SW authors.

These two stories tie in the suceeding generations of Jedi quite deftly. The first, Legacy, has strong overtones of the past coming back to haunt you, but gives insight into the Master-Padawan bond and how that bond helps form both Jed. My favorite story was Secrets, however, with the evidence that Anakin's "failing" may have been more than an isolated event. I would love to see Watson develop this story line into a more philosophic adult novel.

*spoiler* While I was sorry to see Siri Tachi die, her storyline was wonderful and you have to be a little happy that she didn't survive to see the Jedi betrayed. I also liked Obi-Wan's musings that if Qui-Gon had survived, he'd have been able to pinpoint the growing problems among the Jedi to a source (giving more evidence to Qui-Gon's uniqueness).

All in all, a great addition to the SW canon, appropriate for any age.

easy to read, but a good story and well written. Probably one of my favorite Star Wars books.

Legacy of the Jedi and Secrets of the Jedi, two stories written by the great Jude Watson that give us more insight to the characters we have seen on the silver screen in George Lucas' legendary film saga.

Legacy begins with the future Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus, now recently accepted as a Padawan learner. In the first chapters, he has a friend, Lorian Nod who has yet to be accepted by a Master. Lorian's jealousy at Dooku's promotion drives the young boy to stealing an ancient Sith holocron from the Jedi Library. Looking at the information strikes fear into Lorian's heart. The events that follow turn their friendship into rivalry and almost quickly into hatred. Dooku turns Lorian in to the Council for the theft and Lorian is dismissed.

The rest of Legacy tells the story of Lorian Nod through the viewpoints of the several generations of Master and apprentice, starting with Dooku all the way down to Anakin Skywalker. In the final segment Dooku and Lorian are on opposing sides again, but this time the allegiance either of them bear is the opposite than what it was in the past. This sets the stage for their final confrontation.

Secrets of the Jedi tells a completely different story that shows that Anakin has not been the only Jedi to fall in love. Beginning after the death of Tahl in Jedi Apprentice #15 and Qui-Gon's subsequent quest for vengeance in #16, the story tells of Obi-Wan falling with fellow Padawan learner Siri Tachi and how they had to force to keep themselves at bay from one another throughout the years.

The final story of this book, The Last One Standing, features Obi-Wan in his first months living in exile on Tatooine watching over Luke Skywalker. As the title states, Obi-Wan really is the last one standing of all the major characters of this book as Dooku, Lorian, Qui-Gon and Siri have been killed previously, and he does not yet know that Anakin survived the flames of Mustafar to become the cyborg everyone in the galaxy would fear as Darth Vader. As such when he has to go on an adventure to ensure Luke's safety, he laments on it throughout his task.

Legacy of the Jedi, Secrets of the Jedi, and The Last One Standing tells a tale throughout the ages of Star Wars to the very end with Obi-Wan as the only one surviving, and as such tells its own saga of generations of Jedi.

In the first book of this two-novel volume, the newly chosen Jedi padawan Dooku waits for his master to return to the Temple and begin his training. Dooku's best friend, Lorian, has yet to be chosen by a master. The two boys have been rivals as well as friends throughout their Temple childhood, but now their rivalry turns serious. What happens to turn the promising padawan Dooku into the evil Count Dooku familiar to us from the Star Wars films and the later novels? This enjoyable read takes us through the generations to answer that question, from Qui-Gon Jinn's padawan days to those of the young Anakin Skywalker. The second and equally readable book also spans generations, telling a story that starts with Obi-Wan Kenobi as Qui-Gon's padawan and progressing to Obi-Wan as Anakin Skywalker's master. It's a fast-paced adventure, but it is also very much a story about the characters and how their choices shape them. The two novels are followed by a short story set on Tatooine, with the last of the Jedi - Obi-Wan - living in secrecy and watching over an infant Luke Skywalker and his foster parents.

I have always believed that good YA fiction makes equally good reading for adults, and Jude Watson's work here bears out that belief. Nicely done!

I really enjoyed this book. Both were good, though I would say that I enjoyed Legacy of the Jedi a little more over Secrets of the Jedi. Don't get me wrong. They are both very good. Secrets of the Jedi is a little more sad. It was written like it should have been but reading it was so sad for Obi Wan and Siri. I enjoyed seeing the connection between Dooku, Qui Gon, Obi Wan, and Anikan in Legacy of the Jedi. If you want to know more about the star wars universe before Phantom of the Menace, you'll enjoy this.

Though the book is written for kids, it is still a good read for adults. If you are looking for a quick read this is the book for you. The book gives you some really good back ground on some of the jedi characters. It is interesting to see Qui-Gon Jen and Obi wons background. It really gives you something to think about. Obi Won shared the same type of love problems that Anakin did. I wonder what would of happened if Obi-Won would of opened up and shared his story with Anakin. I think Anakin might of felt he had some way to relate to Obi-Won.

A good interesting book.

Very good book. Helps you to realize that the Jedi do have feelings they have to deal with and suppress. I recommend buying this double set instead of the books separately

I didn't read Secrets of the Jedi; this review is for Legacy of the Jedi.

I liked this book better than any other Star Wars book and highly recommend it to you. It has a great plot: mystery crossed with science fiction. It is divided into four sections, each with about ten chapters. It's a very unpredictable book! I hope you like it!!
