I was so excited to get my Force FX Lightsaber and couldn't wait to play with it so I ran out and bought a fresh pack of Energizer AA batteries and inserted them into the hilt. My saber instantly ignited and started making sounds! I knew immediately that this was going to be a very cool toy. I played around with it, twirling it like every good Jedi does and then switched the power off. The blade light went off, but it continued to make the sounds. I switched the on/off button several times and finally got the sounds to shut off but the "deactivation" sound had a VERY delayed response, nearly 15 seconds after I turned the power off. I was also disappointed by the low volume of the sounds. It is very muted compared to my cheap Hasbro toy lightsaber which is considerably louder.

Well, it wasn't perfect but it was still the closest thing to a real lightsaber that money can buy. I am also a proud owner of a custom made electro-luminescent Episode I Obi-Wan Kenobi lightsaber that is very similar to this one except that it does not have a sound chip in it. I put the toy away and thought nothing more of it... until the next day.

I went to turn on my lightsaber and the sounds were garbled. I thought perhaps the batteries were drained, but how could this be? I just put in fresh batteries the day before, played with it a maximum of about 45 minutes, igniting it for a few minutes here and there, but the instructions say that it should have about 5-6 hours of continuous play.

I have come to the conclusion that there is something wrong with the lightsaber itself. I have read other reviews that point to the fact that there is either a design flaw or that there is a manufacturing defect. I think I am going to return mine and try to get a replacement. I feel like Darth Vader in the Energizer Bunny ads. The Force is definitely not with this one.

I received my Anakin FX last week and have to disagree with the the reviewer who thinks there are better functional replicas out there. I don't know what they were expecting for the price. Sure, you can get more accurate replicas from fan sites that are made of metal, but only if you're willing to spend about 4-5 times more than what the Anakin FX costs. And I haven't seen any custom sabers that come with sound effects. Other reviewers have reported having problems with theirs, but I've turned mine on, swung it around and banged it into several things with no problems so far. Any child would love to have this and no collector should be without it. Can't wait for the Vader FX later this year!

I have a few lightsaber replicas and I enjoy putting them on display but never really could do much with them. I ordered this lightsaber and I must say that this is the best replica I have seen so far. It is an interactive replica that lets you do something with and makes you feel like a Jedi. From the polished metal hilt to the EL blade to the sound effects. Everything is great about it. If you are a Star Wars fan, you will love this. I liked it so much, I decided to order another one, yes that is true, it came yesterday. If you are tired of playing with those toy lightsabers for kids that have the flashing lightbulbs and the sound effects that don't sound like a lightsaber, order this one. You'll love it, I promise!
