2.0 out of 5 stars Not the "Orgignal" Max Rebo Band :(, May 18, 2001
This review is from: Star Wars: Max Rebo Band (Audio CD)
After receiving this, I was expecting the original music from Max Rebo and his band as heard in the original Jedi (before Lucas trash the audio soundtrack UGH!).

This has that lame song that was "created" for the special edition of Jedi.

Now Max and the band originally performed at least two songs in the "classic" Jedi. 'Laptinek' which was sung by Sny Snoodles (pardon my spelling on the song and singer).

And of course the real cool jam they did while Jabba's barge was cruising through the desert to the pit.

But those two songs are not present on this CD.

1.0 out of 5 stars FALSE ADVERTISING: NOT JOHN WILLIAMS!, August 24, 2004
This review is from: Star Wars: Max Rebo Band (Audio CD)
As a lifelong John Williams and Star Wars, BEWARE!

This is not the 1983 "Lapti Nek" music as heard in the 1983 version of the film, the 1983 original soundtrack release, and the 1993 Anthology Boxed set.

This is the drivel known as "Jedi Rocks" that is by Jerry Hey and found in the 1997 version of the film and the 1997 release of the soundtrack. I'm sure Jerry Hey is a fine artist (I loved his song on the Rocky III), but anything that is NOT by John Williams on a Star Wars CD is uttery shameful. Shamefl of Lucas to remove the original track, and relace it with anything NOT done by John Williams.

I recommend getting the 2-disc expanded sets and the 4-CD boxed set, but I don't recommend this.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Joh Yowza's solo Jedi ROCKS!!!!!, March 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Star Wars: Max Rebo Band (Audio CD)
The combination of different species, a Yuzzem, an Ortolan, a Rodian, a Near-Human, and the lead singer Sy Snootles, makes a great harmony that only Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes can come close to beat!
