5.0 out of 5 stars Return of the Jedi shows promise.
The comic book adaptation of Return of the Jedi does a good job of describing the events that take place in the movie. The sketches drawn show enough detail to give them depth. Found at the back of the book are production sketches from the original trilogy by Ralph McQuarrie, Ivor Beddoes, Joe Johnston, Derek Thompson, George Hull, Doug Chiang, and Terryl Whitlatch...

The comic book adaptation of Return of the Jedi does a good job of describing the events that take place in the movie. The sketches drawn show enough detail to give them depth. Found at the back of the book are production sketches from the original trilogy by Ralph McQuarrie, Ivor Beddoes, Joe Johnston, Derek Thompson, George Hull, Doug Chiang, and Terryl Whitlatch including an early concept design of a stormtrooper. I prefer the version that is in the movies. Also included were sketches of the Special Edition of ROTJ including the celebration scenes at the end of the movie.

This book is great in getting our son to love reading! Book is very well written and is basically the whole movie in comic book form.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Edition, January 10, 2011

If you want to collect the whole run of Marvel's Star Wars series, and why wouldn't you, you'll need the Return of the Jedi limited series to make it complete.

Dark Horse's releases for all of the other issues of Marvel Star Wars are huge, beautiful, plush graphic novels, with all of the issue covers (sans Marvel references) and even great pin-ups from classic artists. That's why I am wondering why this limited series was not simply released as a part of Volume 5. That book ends with a single issue set AFTER ROTJ. These 4 issues should have been in that book, with all of the covers featured, and preferably, all of the captions and titles from the original issues, which are edited out.

This particular edition of ROTJ features a massive sketchbook that's almost as long as the story itself. I really miss not having a cover gallery. Pin-ups would have been nice too.

Other than that it's a decent edition. It's not like you're gonna not want this if you have all of the other classic Star Wars from Dark Horse, although you might look into the previous TPB.

Wonderful wonderful book. Exciting, terrifying and haunting at the same time. The final battle for the empire proves to be positive for the rebels, who pull together at the last minute and fight for all they're worth!

1.0 out of 5 stars This doesn't deserve the title star Wars, April 12, 2000

This left out way too much of the story line. Do yourself a favor and rent the movie this was close to the worst book I've ever read. Please don't waste your money on this book. go spend some more money and buy the movie.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money..., September 16, 2004

This comic is quite a disappointment - it's only the original one in a new cover. So if you expect to get new drawings, new lettering - it's a blast!
