5.0 out of 5 stars Great for a Star Wars fan!
My nephew is a Star Wars fan(atic) and loves the starships. He is fascinated with the design and appears to be a future Engineer in the making. I got this for him and he loves it. Great for bedtime.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible "projector"
This projector was such a disappointment. I bought it for Christmas for my 6 yr old son who is a huge Stars Wars fan. This projector was such a disappointment. I bought it for Christmas for my 6 yr old son who is a huge Stars Wars fan. When I purchased this I had planned on him laying in bed watching a slide show on his ceiling and listening to his favorite character, Rex, explain the different starships. NOT EVEN CLOSE! First of all the image is tiny (only about 5-6" big) and the projector has to be within 3-5 ft of the surface you are projecting the image on...so you can't use it on the ceiling. You have to have a seperate CD player (I thought it the sound would come from the unit itself) and my son has to feed strips through the projecter. He had to keep adjusting the strip back and forth to get it to line up in the right spot. Then instead of interesting facts geared for a younger audience...you get a highschool science lesson!! AWFUL!! The CD doesn't even follow it's instructions it gives for prompting the strips to be changed...
I am surprised by the other reviews. Personally, I thought they were very gracious. For me, even the educational value was gone because the "science" was way over my son's head. I paid $[...] for this and thought it was $[...] too much.

We bought this toy because the price drop on it was pretty good. However, it is nothing more than a cool looking image projector... So do not think that there is any sort of automatic switching of images or any kind of movie that gets projected. Its just a silly little strip of images that someone has to manually push thorough the projector image by image to see them. The projected image is not that big either. I can see this thing ending up at our garage sale for a buck this summer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Boring, March 30, 2010

My 5 year old got this as a gift (my in laws didn't read the 6+ age category). This is not something for a 5 or even 6 year old. A child that age does not need to know that the same metal used in (fake) Clone Wars ships are used in armored vehicles. This would be much better if it had more slides, larger image, less of an adult lesson and the slides advanced automatically.

My son loves anything star wars. We play the Wii Lego Star Wars game and collect all sorts of action figures. When he received this for his bday, I thought it would be tossed aside after a few days. But he has been consistently playing w/it for a few weeks. We use it a lot after night time reading, and right before bed, he is always ready to do the slide show for everyone. It's a great toy to engage his imagination of stars, space, and of course, more star wars ships! This toy would be awesome if I can find more slides!

My son was so excited to get this projector for Christmas! However, he was only able to use it one time. It is very poorly made and broke the second time he tried to use it! If it had worked, it would have been a great gift for him as he loves stuff like this! Very disappointed!

Not much to this - once you've viewed the slides you are pretty much done with it. I don't believe you can purchase more slides without purchasing a whole new projector. Maybe would recommend if you could purchase additional slide packs.

I got this toy for $10, and I think that's about what it should normally be worth. It's a really simple slide projector that shoots still images (about 24" wide) onto the wall. Shooting onto the ceiling produced very blurry images. There is an audio CD included that narrates, with a few space-y sound effects. It reminds me of a book on tape set, where there is a beep to tell you when to change images. My kids had lots of fun with it for about 2 days, then it got set aside for Hot Wheels.

My six year old enjoys putting on the show for a change. But, I have seen him use it just two or three times
in his first month of ownership.

Everything works as expected. An audio CD comes with the projector with a very good narration.

It is kind of a waste, in my opinion, to have a slide projector which only shows one show consisting of three slide strips (eight images on each strip).
But, then again my kids have plenty of toys that do less.

I do not know why I expected more from this, but it was one of the worst presents I bought my kids this year. The first one arrived DOA. When we got the replacement, I was surprised at how horrible the quality of the slides were. There are only three slide bars so it is limited on re-play value. It has become a makeshift Bat-Signal as the slides were wrecked after a day of use. Don't buy this, buy a flashlight instead.
