Star Wars: Attack of the Clones Anakin Skywalker Outland Peasant Disguise w/Removable Poncho, Blaster & Storage Container + Star Wars: Episode 2 > Obi-Wan Kenobi (Coruscant Chase) Action Figure

Product Description

Product Description

It's been 10 years since young Anakin Skywalker left his desert home to train to become a Jedi knight. Under the guidance of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin is assigned to bring Senator Padmé Amidala back to Naboo after she escapes another assassination attempt. To conceal his Jedi identity on this important mission, Anakin disguises himself in peasant clothes. This 3.75-inch-tall action figure of Anakin features magnets in his hands to allow for awesome Force action. Simply move Anakin's hand over the included storage container and the lid opens. Place his hand on the blaster and it's similarly Force-attracted to his hand. A removable poncho is included.

3.0 out of 5 stars Telescoping lightsaber?, April 30, 2002
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Star Wars: Attack of the Clones Anakin Skywalker Outland Peasant Disguise w/Removable Poncho, Blaster & Storage Container (Toy)
Alright, the sculpt is pretty cool. It looks like the actor who'll play Anakin Skywalker in Attack of the Clones, and the pattern in his shirt is pretty detailed. Then the poncho that's actually like PVC material has the folds and over-all look of real cloth (though scaled down to size). But where this one falls a little short is where the Obi Wan Kenobi and Mace Windu figures excel - the lightsaber. The very first Star Wars figures ever made had flimsy little lightsabers that telescoped out of the figure's right arm. Luke Skywalker, Obi Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, they all had a lightsaber that could slide up into their arm. It didn't work. So why go back to the technology now, in the days of the absolutely awesome metal lightsaber hilts with removable beams? The other accessories aren't so bad. The gun (blaster) is a little odd looking, but that's the fault of the questionable design work of the prequels, not the toy. A cool feature is a little storage box in which you can put the gun. On the box is a locking mechanism that involves a tiny hunk of metal that, when near the magnet in Anakin's left hand, unlocks to send the lid of the box springing open. The gun itself has some metal in the handle to interact with Anakin's magnet, but it's not nearly as impressive as they'd like it to be (oh wow, Anakin can use "The Force" to pull a gun a sixth of an inch through the air into his hand!).

To sum it up, I'd say this figure's for the completist. The telescoping lightsaber interferes with the sculpt (Anakin's arm having to stick out completely straight, not the mention the bulky saber hilt), and, fully extended, the saber itself is none too impressive. Kid OR adult would probably be best advised to hold out for the other yet-to-be-released Anakin figure with the cooler metal lightsabers (yes, plural, the other one has TWO!). Not bad, but there's better in the line.

4.0 out of 5 stars Star Wars Ep. 2 Attack of the Clones Anakin Figure, July 26, 2002
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Star Wars: Attack of the Clones Anakin Skywalker Outland Peasant Disguise w/Removable Poncho, Blaster & Storage Container (Toy)
This one looks a lot like Hayden Christensen, and even though the Hangar Duel figure is better, this one is still a good quality action figure. The "Outland Peasant Disguise" consists of a poncho that you can put on Anakin, and he also comes with a box you can open by moving his hand over it. I don't remember seeing anything like that in the film, but it makes a good accessory. The small gun that comes with the package is attracted to his hand with a magnet. This proves to be somewhat impractical, but overall, this one is a nice addition to the ever-growing STAR WARS action figures.

This figure is pretty cool! It comes with a blaster the lightsaber and that box. It is cool cuz it can use the force. It's sculpting is great the poncho looks pretty real and the force abillity is awesome. Other toys you should get are Jango Fett, Clone Troopers, Super Battle droid, Count Tyrannus etc.
